APC Director Madeline Weiss will interview Professor Kristian Hammond, professor of computer science at Northwestern University. Dr. Hammond presented his latest research at the January APC meeting: Getting beyond the hype with a five-step plan for leveraging AI for business. His research interests include artificial intelligence, humanizing the machine with language, and machine consciousness and partnerships with the machine. During this interview, Dr. Hammond will share AI applications in organizations that he considers leading edge, elaborate on why large volumes of data are essential for successful AI applications, give us examples of things that humans can do that machines can't at this point, explain what it will take for machines to catch up with humans' ability to deal with language complexity, and describe how you should approach seeking additional opportunities to leverage AI.
