The
MIS department is a multidisciplinary department, which includes ten full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty members in the areas of information systems, data science, and supply-chain management. MIS faculty are active in high-impact research. Recent accomplishments include funded research in cybersecurity by the U.S. Navy and the development of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Lab that supports multi-sensory (e.g., audio, eye-tracking, computer vision) experiments, data collections, and system development research in the areas of AI, affective computing, big data, virtual reality, cyber and physical security. MIS faculty publish in leading business journals such as
Journal of MIS, MIS Quarterly, Journal of the AIS, and the
Journal of Econometrics. Our research and faculty have been featured in outlets such as
The Guardian, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Bloomberg BNA, HBO and
Wired. The MIS department has active partnerships within the Fowler College and throughout the SDSU campus in areas such as Accountancy, Statistics, and Homeland Security among others.
The MIS department offers the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) – Information Systems Major, Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS), and MBA specializations in supply-chain management, information systems, and project management. For more information see:
