Speaker:  Katherine Trost, Research Analyst, Nemertes Research

Never before has IT had the ability to transform the way an organization does business as it does today. Unfortunately, current economic conditions have put the brakes on many initiatives, and cut backs have forced decreased spending across the board. The pressure is on to trim costs--dramatically and quickly. Business leaders are mandating all groups tighten their budgets, requiring IT leaders to do more with less staff, budget and internal expertise.

This leaves IT decision makers struggling to assess priorities and find more efficient ways to deliver services. Often it's a huge challenge, as they support an increasingly dispersed and demanding workforce that depends on IT support to stay connected to the rest of their team, partners, and most importantly customers.

At the same time, emerging technologies are dramatically affecting strategic business initiatives. Technologies including mobility, unified comunications, data-leak prevention, and virtualization are key to business initiatives such as enabling an agile, distributed workforce; ensuring optimal customer service; maintaining regulatory compliance; and deploying an effective sustainability strategy.

Based on Nemertes Research latest findings, we'll discuss the struggles and successes your peers have had in dealing with:

  • Decreasing Staffs and Budgets
  • Diverse workforce
  • Unconventional workplaces
  • Dispersed geographies
  • Global clients and suppliers
  • Real-time responsivesness
  • Continuous up-time
