Ed Trainor served as a Chief Information Officer (CIO) for over 25 years with Flying Tigers Airline, Southern California Gas Co., Paramount Pictures, and Amtrak … and is also a past national President of the Society for Information Management (SIM). He currently co-facilitates SIM’s Pacific Southwest Regional Leadership Forum (RLF). Additionally, he is the co-author of two textbooks on information strategy and is also an adjunct faculty member at UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business where he serves as the Executive Director of UCI’s Center for Digital Transformation.



Mike Benson is a strategic IT thought leader, architect and agent for change and growth with a 30-year spectrum of experience ranging from leading start-up environments and acquisitions to re-engineering in periods of market expansion and contraction in established businesses.  As former Executive VP and CIO for DIRECTV, Mike was responsible for creating and maintaining cutting edge technology solutions for the global business operations.  His capabilities in leadership and team-building were recently recognized when he was named to the CIO 100.

Bob Rouse is a founder of the St. Louis SIM Chapter and a Past President of SIM. For 22 years he has facilitated forums in the Midwest, Northeast, New York, Chubb Internal and the Pacific Northwest. He previously served as a RLF Director. Bob is Professor Emeritus, Computer Science at Washington University; he held many leadership positions at WU, including IT Strategy Director for the School of Medicine, automation lead for the Development Office, Assistant Dean, and Director of the Center for Intelligent Computing Systems.

Program Costs

All SIM members are eligible for a SIM member discount of $600.  Must be logged into this website for the discount to be recognized.  In addition, register on or before Sunday, December 31, 2017 to qualify for an early registration discount of $500.
The RLF fee includes:  
  • Speakers, presentations, materials and activities during six 2-day sessions of the nine-month program.
  • Inclusion in a post-program learning event for all 2018 RLF grads.
  • All books and media used throughout the program.
  • All breakfasts, lunches and refreshments.
  • Individual SIM national membership for each graduate during 2019.

*Travel and hotel accommodations are not included in this fee.
