Membership Information

 

The Western New York Chapter of SIM was started to promote free-flowing and candid sharing of information among technology leaders in the region.  For this reason, we have set guidelines around membership that we feel will best support this open exchange at the right levels of management within member organizations.

IT Practitioners

 


 
  • Senior IT professionals (CIO and their direct reports) in private or public sector organizations.  Typically a CIO or Vice President of Technology and their direct reports.
  • Senior IT professionals of large organizations (>$5b in revenue) who are reports to direct reports of a CIO (3 levels).
  • Retirees who were members of SIM prior to their current status may continue to be a member.  Members must participate in SIM Committee/Board positions to maintain membership.
  • Individuals who lose their job while being a member in good standing will retain their membership status and will also be allowed to renew membership.  Membership fees for those individuals will be waved during their time in transition.  Members must participate in SIM Committee/Board positions to maintain membership.
   
 Members of Academia
 
  • Deans or department heads of Information Technology departments of universities or colleges who are making significant contribution to the IT field.
  • Academicians who are recognized scholars and conduct practice-oriented research and/or are leaders in IT curriculum design initiatives.
   
 Consultants
  • Leaders at the owner, partner/principal level who influence the direction of their own company or the direction of their clients’ companies are qualified. These individuals must be able to demonstrate that they operate at the senior level to qualify and their responsibilities are primarily in delivering IT services to CIO’s, not primarily selling IT services.
  • Leading experts from consulting firms may also qualify for SIM membership by virtue of the contributions such individuals and their organizations make to information technology management.

  • IT vendors and leaders from other professions with a major role in matters that impact the strategic direction of information technology will be considered for membership. 
  • Participation is limited to non-selling/non-solicitation capacity. 
  • Members must participate in Committees.

  • * Discounted rate assumes 3 or more members from the same organization
  • Chapter members will automatically become members of SIM International
  • The dues structure is subject to annual review by the Board

  • Dues are to be paid by January 31st of the respective membership year
  • Dues will be waived for members in transition for up to 18 months
  • All membership applications are subject to approval by the Chapter Board
