About the program:
Cloud computing is certainly the "next big thing”; most IT vendors are talking about it and saying they are a part of it.    John will provide perspective on what is real in the cloud and share his practical experience regarding how to capture the business value associated with a few of the exciting technological developments associated with the cloud including infrastructure on demand and  software as a service.  Particular focus will be placed on leveraging virtualization technology to develop a private cloud for the enterprise.   He will discuss the opportunities and pitfalls derived from the experience of implementing private cloud solutions for Siemens as well as SIS customers.    From the CIO career perspective he will share how he evolved from the traditional role of a "CIO supporting the business” to one where his role and focus is on value creation and new service/revenue generation.    His overall objective will be to provide the audience with ideas they can use to prudently take advantage of what is available in the cloud and create added enterprise value for their companies.
