Nominate a Colleague for SIM Membership
In September of last year, SIM launched a National Membership Campaign. It was so successful that we now ask our members to keep it in mind all year long. We ask that each of you to nominate a senior IT Practioner (more if you can) that you would like to see join SIM and send them a short email suggesting that they join. You do not need to limit this to only those in your area. This is a nationwide effort and we hope to engage senior IT Practitioners from all over the country.
Sample Text for that email to your nominee can be found below, but feel free to compose your own note relating the value you get from your SIM membership. We do ask that you copy the Membership Chair for the Chapter you are referring on the email so that they know whom you are nominating and can follow up with them to complete their membership application.
Dear (NAME),
You may know that I have been a member of the Society for Information Management for a number of years. I joined SIM and have remained an active member because it is the premier network for IT leadership, a community of thought leaders who share experiences and rich intellectual capital, and who explore future IT direction together.
I’d like to introduce you to <Insert Membership Chair's Full Name here> , who volunteers with our Board of Directors in the Membership area. I have suggested to <MC first name> that should you become a SIM member you would both add tremendous value to our Chapter and would draw tremendous value for yourself and your staff from our programs and the association with the area’s most recognized IT leadership.
Please expect <MC First Name> to contact you in the very near future and I encourage you to speak with him about the <Insert Chapter Name here> Chapter of SIM.
Best Regards,
2010 SIM Membership Chairs
