Tsvi Gal, Chairman

Tsvi Gal is General Partner at Exigen Capital, a global Private Equity firm and is leading the technology, financial services and media Industries. Previously Tsvi was the Chief Technology Officer for Deutsche Bank Investment Bank and Asset Management. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Tsvi was CIO at Time Warner Music Group introducing ring tones iTune/iPod drive and eCommerce site with 14 million users. From 1999 to 2002, Tsvi was President and COO of AT&T's ATT.COM and grew the revenue of the group three-fold to $390M per annum with net profit of $95M. Tsvi also served in executive management roles as CIO, CTO and COO at Merrill Lynch, Wells Fargo, ABN AMRO Bank and Bank of America. From 1996 to 2001 Tsvi served on the USA technology delegation to the G7. He developed the first Internet bank at Wells Fargo Bank. In 2001, he received the Einstein Award from the State of Israel President.

Tsvi is a Computer Science graduate of Rutgers University and holds an MBA from Golden Gate University. He is the author of "Distributed Computing Management" and serves on the Board of Directors at Expand, Cardean University and Dati and as an advisor to the Rutgers University President.

Perry Rotel, President

Perry is currently Chief Information Officer of Verisk. Verisk Analytics offers risk assessment services and decision analytics for professionals in many fields, including: property/casualty insurance, mortgage lending, healthcare, government and human resources.

Prior to Verisk, he was SVP and Chief Information Officer of Moody's Corporation, where he was responsible for all aspects of information technology strategy, support and operations globally. Perry has more than 20 years to IT management experience in a variety of industries.

Before joining Moody's, he served as CIO for AIG's Domestic Brokerage Group and as AIG's global chief technology officer, responsible for setting global technology direction and leveraging technology to support new sources of revenue. Before AIG, Perry spent 15 years with American Management Systems (AMS) where he held a variety of roles in the consulting organization before being appointed chief technology officer for AMS's Insurance Technology Group in 1997. Perry graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and economics

Clarice Kennedy, VP, Programs

Clarice Kennedy is a Senior Director for Resources Global Professionals.

Clarice brings 20 years of experience in the technology industry and in this role manages the strategic development of the Information Management practice specifically in the areas of business (IT) governance, business process transformation and program and project management.

Prior to joining Resources, Clarice was the founder and CEO of CCN, Inc., a technology consulting firm. During the past two decades, she guided its growth and expansion into a full-service provider of technology services and talent management solutions for some of the world’s leading companies.

Kennedy began her career as a systems programmer, then evolved into a network engineering role supporting European traders at Security Pacific Bank, now Bank of America. Two years later, the entrepreneurial 24-year-old founded CCN and strategically fulfilled the emerging need for Technology services as North American companies began widespread deployment of computers across the enterprise.

She serves on the New York Leadership Board of Women in Technology International (WITI) and is an active Board member for Dress for Success, a non-profit organization that empowers women transitioning back into the workforce. She also serves as member of Columbia University’s mentoring program within the Executive Master of Science in Technology Management degree program.

Kennedy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Buffalo State University, Buffalo, New York. She lives in New York with her husband, and her three greatest accomplishments – her children, Dylan, Connor and Aidan.

Mary Sobiechowski, VP, Marketing

Mary is CIO for Sudler & Hennessey, with enterprise responsibility for over 20 global offices. Sudler & Hennessy is the healthcare communications division of Y&R Brands, a WPP Group company.

Mary joined S&H in 1999 as the Graphic Technology Manager and has been in her current position heading up Global IT for the past seven years, developing and implementing IT strategy for the advertising, promotion and medical education divisions, as well as directing IT operations for all US offices.

Mary is the leader of the Creative Technology Special Interest Group of WPP, focusing on best practices of the Mac and creative PC environment for the Interactive, Production, Art and MultiMedia departments.

Mary holds an Engineering degree from Lawrence Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Wayne State University and is a mentor with the Columbia University MBA program in Technology Managment. In her previous career as an artist, she exhibited in many galleries in Soho and Tribeca, New York City.

Andy Garlick, VP, Treasurer and Secretary

Andy Garlick is Senior Vice President, Business Systems for WPP Group USA. He is responsible for developing policies regarding financial and other business systems in North America for all the WPP Companies. Prior to this assignment, Andy was Associate CIO of Young & Rubicam, Inc. Andy has been in the Advertising and Media industry for 16 years, working for Campbell-Ewald in the 80's, and joining Young & Rubicam in 1993 as IT Director for North America. Andy spent the first half of his career in Finance, including stints as the Treasurer of the University of Detroit and Controller of Campbell-Ewald Co, where he installed and built a number of financial systems. Andy made the switch from Finance to Technology in 1990.

Andy also has broad experience in the not-for-profit sector. He spent 10 years as a financial officer at the University of Detroit, and continues to serve on the Boards of the CYO of the Archdiocese of Detroit, Michigan Performing Arts (Youtheatre), is Board President of the Family Support Organization of Bergen County, and is Past President of his Rotary Club. Andy has been active in a number of organizations as a volunteer, serving on the Committee to Save Orchestra Hall in Detroit, and as an Allocation Panel Chair of the United Way for Southeastern Michigan. Andy holds an MBA, degrees in Philosophy and Classical Literature, and holds certificates in College Business Management from the University of Kentucky - Lexington and in Fund Raising from the Center on Philanthropy at the University of Indiana.

Jim Tosone, VP, SIM International Programs

Jim Tosone is the Managing Director of Tosone Associates, which has two main lines of business. The Improv Means BusinessTM program helps organizations broaden and deepen their relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues using the techniques of improvisation. The Health IT Means BusinessTM program helps organizations leverage emerging healthcare technologies, including electronic health records and consumer healthcare technologies.

Prior to Tosone Associates, Jim was head of the Pfizer HealthCare Informatics group, which is focuses on using Electronic Health Records for clinical research, chronic care management, and medication compliance. Jim also had responsibility for leading the Pharmaceuticals Business Technology Groups supporting Sales, Marketing, Medical, Finance, Employee Resources, and Infrastructure Technology Architecture. Among his accomplishments, Jim created the Patient Centered Healthcare workstream, led the group that submitted the first comprehensive PC-based Computer-Assisted New Drug Application to the FDA, and developed the first set of worldwide safety standards for Pfizer’s clinical trials. He has a BS and MS from Stevens Institute of Technology.

Jim has been active in SIM for nearly fifteen years. He represented Pfizer on the SIM Advanced Practices Council and was the executive sponsor for several APC research projects. Jim graduated from the SIM Regional Leadership Forum in 1998 and has sponsored dozens of Pfizer colleagues for RLF. He has also been a featured speaker at numerous RLF sessions on topics such as "Creating Your Next Career”. Jim has been a member of the NY Metro Board since 2008.

Shawn Banerjinerji, VP, Membership

Shawn Banerji is a member of the Information Officers and Business and Professional Services Practices within the Technology Sector at Russell Reynolds Associates. Based in New York, Shawn recruits chief information and technology officers across a variety of industries, including banking and insurance, publishing and media, as well as process industries such as energy and distribution. Shawn also has extensive experience in the technology and business process outsourcing marketplace. This includes shared/business services search work for large corporations as well as extensive work for private equity investors and their portfolio companies.

Shawn has more than a decade of executive recruiting experience and joined Russell Reynolds Associates in 1999. Prior to executive search, Shawn worked in the advertising industry at Ogilvy & Mather.

Erich Winkler, VP, Academic Affairs

Erich Winkler was Information Systems Director for Altria Corporate Services in New York, where he has IT responsibility for Altria Corporate Finance Systems, the Altria Corporate Shared Services Center, and the Philip Morris Capital Corporation. Erich is also leading the company's global Community of Interest for SAP. Erich's career with the Altria Group of Companies spans 25 years, and includes Senior IT Management positions in Europe, in Asia/Pacific, and in North America.

Erich has been a SIM member since 1997, and was elected to the Board as VP Marketing in 2004. Since then he has also served as VP, Programs and an active organizer of the New York CIO Executive Summit.

Kurt Brungardt, VP, Arrangements

Kurt Brungardt is the Chief Information Officer for MSD Capital, L.P., the New York-based private investment firm that exclusively manages the capital of Michael Dell and his family. The firm, founded in 1998, currently has offices in New York, Los Angeles and London. With extensive experience in business process and technology, Kurt has introduced and implemented a significant scaling of MSD Capital’s operations while positioning the company for future growth, operational excellence, and simplicity. Kurt’s responsibilities included the introduction and implementation of the advanced research capture and management systems at MSD Capital, which consistently helps the firm manage, mine and internally share its proprietary research.

Mr. Brungardt co-founded the Hedge Fund Technology Group (HFTG), a select group of CIO’s and CTO’s from many of the largest and most successful hedge funds in the United States. In the aggregate, HFTG member firms manage nearly half a trillion dollars.

Kurt Brungardt, was the former COO/CTO for Digital Power Networks, a technology firm selling active noise control and condition monitoring equipment to the utility industry. Mr. Brungardt is well known for driving the creation of the first active noise control (ANC) systems for the company, as they are the largest commercial ANC systems in the world. While beginning his professional career designing submarines for General Dynamics Electric Boat Division in Connecticut, his responsibilities included designing and testing the advanced quieting systems for the Seawolf, Trident and Los Angeles class submarines.

Mr. Brungardt holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Judy Arteche-Carr, Immediate Past Chairman

Judy Arteche-Carr is a strategic advisor to global companies, CXOs, and governments focused on business strategies, global sourcing and emerging technologies. Mark Polansky, Past Chairman and Advisory Board Chair

Mark Polansky is a Senior Client Partner and the Managing Director of Korn/Ferry International’s Information Technology Center of Expertise for North America. He has been based in the firm’s flagship New York office since he joined the firm in 1997.

With more than 25 years of executive search experience, all in technology, Mr. Polansky has extensively recruited Chief Information Officers, Chief Technology Officers and other senior IT leaders across a wide range of vertical industry sectors, as well as both general and technical management for public and private high-tech companies, managed service providers, professional services organizations, venture firms and their portfolio companies.

Before entering the search field in 1979, he spent 11 years in computer programming, systems management and business development at two large information technology organizations engaged in the development, support and marketing of information systems in the financial services and higher education sectors.

Mark previously taught computer science at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn College, and Southern Connecticut State University. He currently serves on the advisory board of Columbia University's executive graduate program in information technology management.

Mark frequently addresses conferences and writes on information systems subjects as well as career management and human resources topics, and he is the creator of the "Executive Career Counsel" column in CIO Magazine. He is a member of the Society for Information Management previously serving as chairman and president of the New York Metro Chapter.
