Sept. 21st meeting: Cloud Computing - What are your Peers doing (Register for event)
http://www.simnet.org/events/event_details.asp?id=125082

Join your SIM CAC colleagues at this dinner event to hear "Cloud Computing - What are your Peers doing?" Today’s advances in networking technology and enterprise applications have put the possibility of cloud computing within the reach of CIOs in almost all organizations. Whether it’s E-mail, sales automation, infrastructure services or enterprise systems, cloud computing offers a wide variety of innovative solutions for IT leaders. So how are organizations assessing the fit for cloud computing within their organizations… and justifying it? This month’s meeting is focused around what organizations, both public and private are doing to start "thinking cloud”. Join us for an evening of practical discussion with experts from Google and Cybernet-Slash Support (CSS) to discuss vendor-neutral topics like:

  • What are local CIOs considering to migrate to cloud-based services?
  • How are they justifying the security, economics and practicality of these services?
  • How are they justifying the security, economics and practicality of these services?
  • What are some pitfalls or lessons learned?
  • What is the "safest” app to start with for my organization?
  • What about government CIOs and "The Cloud”?

Our speakers
Ahmar Abbas
is Senior Vice President, Global Infrastructure Management with Cybernet-Slash Support. Ahmar is a founder of Grid Technology partners, is an authority on grid computing and brings a wealth of knowledge on cloud computing based on his experiences working with multiple organizations globally.

Jim Young is an Enterprise Manager on Google’s DoD team focusing on Innovation and Google's cloud computing capabilities. His extensive background includes working for the Directorate of Science and Technology (DS&T) at a federal government agency, large-scale IT programs at Walt Disney and several innovative start-up companies focusing on the DoD.

Whether you are a corporate, government or small business CIO, you’ll be sure to walk away with something practical to get you started with "the cloud”.
