Member Bios

Carol Copeland, President
Carol is Director of Information Systems for Robins & Morton; a nationally-ranked contractor specializing in complex healthcare, commercial, education and industrial projects based in Birmingham.  She has directed and implemented a variety of technology driven initiatives as well as manages all technology operations for the Robins & Morton offices and jobsites. 

John Fallis, Vice President
John is the Chief Information Officer for Drummond Company, Inc.; an international company engaged in the business of mining, purchaisng, processing and selling of coal and coal derivatives as well as an award winning developer.

Michele Boyd, Treasurer
This will be a short description of this member's achievements in information management. This information can be aquired from a résumé.

Jim Ryan, Secretary
Jim is on faculty in the Sorrell College of Business of Troy University, where he teaches management information systems at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He is also the program director of information systems at the Phenix City campus. His research is published in various proceedings and journals across the information systems discipline.

Barbara Doster, Program Chair
Barbara is the Program Chair for SIM Alabama, and a leader in the field of Clinical Informatics.  In addition to her role as Administrative Director for Perioperative Nursing, she has implemented software to manage materials, schedule surgeries, and track patient status and location in real time for the nationally renowned UAB medical system.

Jim Purcell, Golf Tournament Chair
Jim is the Chief Technology Officer of Brasfield & Gorrrie; a Birmingham based general contractor.  He has served as golf tournament chair since its inception in 2003.  Through his leadership we have been able to provide  IT scholarship money to four major universities every year.
