June 2014
Name: RJ Juliano
SIM Role:  SIM Philadelphia Chapter President

1. Please provide an overview of the SIM Philadelphia chapter.

SIM Philly is one of the larger chapters in the US with a vibrant mix of executives, academics, and vendor partners.  We are actively focused on the core networking, programs, education, and community service opportunities that our members enjoy.  In cooperation with our PHISIM foundation, our impact reaches beyond personal and business and into our communities. Our vision is to be the go to community for business-driven technology thought leadership.

2. What are your goals for your term as the President of the SIM Philadelphia chapter?

With a newly updated mission and vision in place, we are focused on improving marketing and communicating the value of SIM.  We do great things and have great people. Now we are developing a strategy to get that message out, increase engagement by the members and attract more leaders to the chapter.   We also clearly have to continue to deliver on our value proposition so the board always remains focused on the quality of our programs and events.

3. What are the hottest trends in the industry?
As regards SIM, the IT leadership roles in companies are increasingly merging with other business line responsibilities and budgets.  Some IT executives are taking on wider roles, while other non-IT executives take more ownership of technology.  Regardless of the technical trends, how we leaders influence and deliver the roadmap and platform continues to change. That is the trend SIM needs to focus upon.

5. What is the one piece of advice you will give the next President of the SIM Arizona chapter?
Matt (our president-elect for 2015) is going to lead a multi-year transformation plan that is already in motion.   He won’t need any encouragement to find more even opportunities for improvement beyond the work we have already started - our target is not standing still so we can’t either.
