SIM Indy hosts many events throughout the year, and also, donates their time to rewarding community opportunities.  Below you will find sign up sheets for the various volunteer opportunities through SIM.  All volunteers will be contacted as the event approaches with further details.  Thank you!

High Priority Volunteer Opportunities

Harshman Middle School Science Bound Explorers
1501 10th St, Indianapolis, IN 46201
This year, the Science Bound Explorers will be building rockets, performing DNA extractions, and exploring other concepts such as spectrophotometry and aspects of forensic science. Volunteers will help students to understand and explore these concepts with the help of a school facilitator.
Times: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 2:40-4:45
Need: 2-4 volunteers

Harshman Middle School VEXVEX IQ, and VEX IQ for girls (3 teams)
1501 10th St, Indianapolis, IN 46201
The robotics club at Harshman Middle School will be forming three teams this year: one high-school level VEX Robotics team, one VEX IQ team, and they hope to start a second VEX IQ team specifically for girls! All of the teams will meet at the time listed below. Volunteers will work with teachers to help students build and program VEX robots.
Times: Thursdays, 2nd and 4th Tuesdays, from 2:40-4:45
Need: 2-4 volunteers per team

Thomas D Gregg School 15 Math Pentathlon Div. 3
2302 E Michigan St, Indianapolis, IN 46201
Math Pentathlon is a board-game based program where students learn and apply basic math concepts in order to advance through each game. Volunteers will play the games with students to help them improve their math skills while having fun after-school. Training will be provided.
Times: Mondays 4-5
Need: 3-4 mentors

McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology Women in Engineering
7250 E 75th St, Indianapolis, IN 46256
Volunteers will help students to build unique projects and to explore engineering concepts. (E.g. last year the students built prosthetic hands).
Times are TBD.
Need: 1-2 mentors

McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology BIOBuilders
7250 E 75th St, Indianapolis, IN 46256
Volunteers will help the students will engineer yeast or bacteria to perform a novel function.
Will meet periodically over the course of the year from 4-5pm.
Need: 1-2 mentors
