Bruce Leidal


Western NY SIM Chapter

Chief Information Officer,


Bruce Leidal is the Chief Information Officer at Carestream; a $2.5 billion worldwide provider of medical and dental imaging systems and IT solutions with over 8,000 employees.

Leidal leads Carestream’s global Information Technology (IT) organization focused on improving the company’s overall efficiency and effectiveness through the implementation of common processes and systems resulting in “The Carestream Way”.  He and his team also work closely with the key business leaders to design and implement new go-to-market solutions utilizing the integration of Carestream products with IT capabilities.


Previously, Leidal held executive positions at Hayes Lemmerz International, Systems Thinking, General Motors, and Federal-Mogul Corporation. He was a principle management consult at AT Kearney and gained his managerial and technical expertise while at EDS and Texas Instruments.


Leidal received a B.S. in Information Systems from Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan,and has several certifications including Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI).



Joe Bruhin

Mr. Bruhin has over 30 years as an information technology professional and leader.  Most recently, he was the Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Constellation Brands Inc. He is a veteran of the beverage alcohol industry and has 30 years of experience in technology, strategy and business operations. 

Joe has served as Vice President of Information Systems at Diageo, where he was responsible for technology vision, strategy, and business process and systems solutions for the North American business. Prior to joining Diageo in 1996, Mr. Bruhin worked at The Hartford Insurance Company.

He is co-founder of the SIM Western New York chapter, where he currently serves as both Vice President & Programs Co-Chair, is a graduate of the SIM Regional Learning Forum (RLF), and a long-standing member of the SIM Advanced Practices Council (APC).

Mr. Bruhin is a transformational business leader with a track record of creating business value by leading breakthrough performance in IT.  He is recognized as a motivational leader and mentor who creates an environment for success, creates high performing teams and inspires technology leadership. 


Joe earned his undergraduate as well as his Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Connecticut.



Dave DeLaus

Programs Co-Chair,

Wegmans Food Markets is an 86-store supermarket chain with stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts.  Dave has served as Senior Vice President and CIO since July 2012.  He is responsible for the vision, strategy, and execution of all information systems supporting the company.  Prior to his role as CIO he was Vice President of IT Development. 

In his 30 year career with Wegmans, Dave has held numerous leadership roles including Division Manager-New Jersey, Director of Continuous Improvement, and Group Manager Produce.  He also spent several years in store operations. 

Dave is a 1986 graduate of St. John Fisher College where he earned a BS in Economics.  He also serves as vice-chair of the FMI Technology Leadership Board. 


Lisa Bobo

City of Rochester

Lisa Bobo is serving as the CIO for the City of Rochester, responsible for leading the City’s technology and business process re-engineering strategy and initiatives for over 3,000 employees.


Prior to her current role, Lisa held various leadership positions including Application Director and Relationship Manager.   From implementing enterprise solutions to tackling the complexities of governance, Lisa continually works to make government more nimble. She is passionate about modernizing legacy systems to increase workforce productivity and transform how municipalities interact with citizens.


She is a member of the New York State IT Conference for CIO’s in local government, the advisory board for NYS leadership practices, and serves on the Local Government Records Advisory Council.  Lisa is also on the board for the Western NY Chapter of the Society for Information Management and Foodlink. She has received many mayoral recognition awards for her work with various projects throughout her career and actively mentors other individuals working at achieving leadership roles in the Information Technology field.


Lisa is a graduate of Nazareth College where she earned her BS in Mathematics and Computer Science.



Chris Berson

Chris Berson is Chief Information Officer for the DePaul Group, a progressive, private not-for-profit organization founded in 1958, committed to providing the highest quality services to individuals living under challenging circumstances.


Chris is responsible for driving the evolution and execution of the DePaul's technology. He has worked in information technology across several industries for more than 30 years, leading efforts in many areas, including business and systems analysis, enterprise system implementation & integration, project management, and the design, implementation and continuous improvement of operational processes and information technology general computing (ITGC) control activities.


Chris’s undergraduate studies were in Applied Physics, graduating from the University of Central Lancashire in the U.K.  He also obtained an MBA from the University of Rochester’s William E. Simon Graduate School of Business, and is a certified Project Management Professional.

 John is the Chief Information Officer for Kodak Alaris, Inc.


Formed in 2013, Kodak Alaris is an independent, global technology company on a mission to unlock the power of images and information for businesses and consumers.  Kodak Alaris consists of four business units:


• Kodak Moments
• Alaris
• AI Foundry

John joined Kodak Alaris, Inc. in September of 2013, when the U.K. Kodak Pension Plan (KPP) completed its acquisition of these businesses from the Eastman Kodak Company.  

Prior to joining Kodak Alaris, Inc, John spend over 30 years with the Eastman Kodak Company in a variety of leadership positions in their World Wide Information Systems organization.  He was responsible for leading application and infrastructure development groups as well as outsourcing teams.  John also worked in both the Purchasing and Mergers and Acquisitions organizations.  

John holds a Baccalaureate degree in Computer Science as well as an MBA.  He is also an adjunct professor at Monroe Community College in Rochester New York, where he has taught a variety of computer science courses since 1988.


Thomas DeGrave

Tom DeGrave is Director, Global Application Services at Carestream; a $2.5 billion worldwide provider of medical and dental imaging systems and IT solutions with over 8,000 employees.


Tom is responsible for Carestream's global application portfolio including design, development, implementation, maintenance and support.. Previously, Tom held positions at VWR International LLC and General Electric Corporation. He was an IT Director at VWR International for the Science Education business unit.


Tom is a graduate of GE’s Information Management Leadership Program (IMLP). His undergraduate studies were in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY. He also earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from Penn State.


Carol Schmitt

City of Rochester

Carol Schmitt is an IT Relationship Manager with the City of Rochester, supporting six City departments responsible for providing public facing services and operations.



Carol helps to define and manage the development and deployment of strategic automation improvement initiatives within defined business segments of the City.  In that role, she provides guidance to decision makers, clarifies principles for desirable behavior in the use of IT and  monitors business objectives and changes to uncover the need for process or technology changes.  Carol works with City departments to analyze their overall needs, helping them plan for the future and find solutions which can be used City-wide.



Spanning her 30 year career, Carol has held also held leadership positions with the City of Rochester in the areas of Geographic Information Systems, Web development, SQL Server Database Administration, Technical Infrastructure and leading applications development for mainframe computing systems.



Carol received a B.A. in Computer Science from SUNY Oswego.



Kim VanGelder

Eastman Kodak

Kim VanGelder joined Kodak in 1984. In 2004, she was appointed Chief Information Officer. The Board of Directors elected her a corporate vice president in 2004 and senior vice president in 2014. She reports to Chief Executive Officer Jeff Clarke.

VanGelder’s early responsibilities included leading the Corporate group responsible for defining Kodak’s global IT architecture and standards. In 1996, she was appointed Director of the Global ERP Competency Center, where she built the organization responsible for supporting Kodak’s worldwide SAP implementation. In 2000, she was appointed Director of Information Technology for Kodak’s Research & Development organization, where she was responsible for the strategic and operational aspects of IT for worldwide R&D. In addition to her role as CIO, in 2007 she was asked to lead a set of initiatives focused on the transformation of key business processes across the company. In 2011, she assumed the additional role of Director of Worldwide Customer Operations, responsible for driving a more customer-centric, streamlined, and information-enabled go-to-market operating model.

VanGelder holds a B.S. degree in Mathematics from the Rochester Institute of Technology. She is a member of RIT’s Board of Trustees, the Board of Directors of the Rochester Area Community Foundation, and the Board of Directors of Financial Institutions, Inc.



Brad James

Brad James has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Tompkins Financial Corporation since November 2012. Tompkins Financial is the financial services holding company for The Bank of Castile, Mahopac Bank, Tompkins Trust Company, VIST Bank, Tompkins Insurance Agencies and Tompkins Financial Advisors operating in Western, Central and the Hudson Valley New York and Northeast Pennsylvania with $5.6 Billion in assets and 1,100 employees.


Brad is responsible for managing the Information Systems and Technology division for Tompkins Financial, which includes planning and achieving Tompkins Financial Corporation’s goals with an emphasis on Information systems strategy, use of technology, service, quality, and efficiency resulting in sustainable excellence.


Previously, he held numerous leadership positions over his 20 years with the company; most recently Vice President of Information Technology Services where he was responsible for Telecommunications and Electronic Customer Delivery Channels.


Brad earned his B.A.S degree in Computer Engineering from The Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome and is an active community participant with local Youth Sports programs and the Relay for Life.
