About the Speaker
Suzanne Bates
is an executive coach, author, certified speaking professional (CSP), former award-winning television news anchor, and CEO of Bates Communications, Inc. She launched the firm in 2000 after a successful career in major market television. Today, Bates Communications has a team of seasoned consultants who improve their clients' businesses by transforming leaders into powerful communicators who get business results. Bates Communications offers strategic communications consulting, executive coaching, workshops, executive presence seminars and boot camps.

For 20 years, Suzanne was an acclaimed on-air personality with major market television stations WBZ-TV Boston, WCAU-TV Philadelphia and WFLA-TV Tampa-St. Petersburg. She won an AP News Award and was nominated for a Columbia DuPont Award, and, over her career, interviewed thousands of political leaders, CEOs, authors and celebrities. February 18, 2010 - "The World Café" Roundtable Discussion - (Hyatt Regency Greenwich)

About the Program
The FW SIM board invites you to take part in a highly interactive session — A night in Paris at The World Café. This meeting will discuss a variety of current and emerging technologies that will (or should) significantly impact your IT organization in 2010.

This session will be lead by Peter Schay, President, The Advisory Council, and experts in the various technologies. You will be an active participant in engaging roundtable sessions where you and your peers will discuss subjects such as Cloud Computing, Software-as-a-Service, Mobile Applications, Social Media, Business Intelligence, and Green IT.About the Speaker

About the Process
During your evening at The World Café, tables will be set with a facilitator and specific topic for discussion. You will have an opportunity to self-select the "table topic" you want to discuss. Your table facilitator will lead the (25 minute) discussion and scribe the findings to be read out at the end of the evening. You choose three topics. There will be a 10 minute break after each discussion for you to rotate to your next table/topic.

About the Speakers
Susan Certoma
is the SVP and COO of Brokerage Processing Services (BPS) for Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. where she is responsible for overall technology, service, delivery and product development support, strategy, including new platform and product innovations, and the servicing of key client relationships for the BPS business. Ms. Certoma joined Broadridge from Wachovia where she was Managing Director and CIO of the Corporate and Investment Bank divisions since 2004. Previously, she held top financial and technology leadership positions at Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, CS First Boston and Royal Bank of Canada. Ms. Certoma earned her MBA and BA from St. John's University, and has completed a Special Studies program at Yale University, a Product Strategy program at MIT, and the Wachovia Executive Leadership Program at UNC Chapel Hill.

Ursuline Foley is Global CIO of XL Reinsurance, XL Capital. She is responsible for all information systems strategy, support and operations for the Reinsurance Life and non-Life business. Ms. Foley has 25 years of information technology experience, of which over 20 years were spent serving the reinsurance industry. Under her leadership, XL Re was recognized by Information Week in 2008 for being in the top 500 companies for technology innovation. During 2007 Ms. Foley was recognized as one of the seven Technology Stars nationally by Tech Decisions and as one of the Influential women in insurance by Insurance Networking News. Ms. Foley holds a Bachelor of Science and Diploma in Education from University College Cork, Ireland and a Masters of Science from Pace University, New York. She has completed the CIO Leadership development program held jointly by Concours Group and Babson University.

Colleges and universities are no longer institutions we leave behind and forget, once we have earned a degree. Education is a lifelong endeavor, whether it is formal, informal or self-directed. As FW SIM members and senior IT executives, we may not be aware of the quality and depth of experience possessed by our academic members, meaning we are failing to leverage a resource, which may be of value when addressing business problems and improve our careers.

Panel moderator Ed Pospesil will deliver a brief introduction and will then ask panelists to share thoughts concerning how they and their respective institutions may be able to help a CIO resolve challenges in five areas: Leadership, Technology Management, Organizational Optimization, Financial Management and Career Planning. Audience participation and questions will be welcome during and after the panel discussion.

About the Speakers
Dr. Andres Fortino
, PE has been associate provost of Polytechnic Institute of New York University and dean of the University’s Long Island and Westchester campuses since 2006. He has created and managed over a dozen graduate programs in engineering and management.

He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the City College of New York and received his PhD in electrical engineering from the City University of New York. Dr. Fortino has lectured extensively on technology worldwide and has led more than 180 high technology seminars for Learning Tree International over seventeen years with the company. He also worked for IBM Corporation in its Advanced Technology Division where he was awarded three patents and ten invention disclosures and received IBM’s First Invention Level Award for his work in semiconductor research.

Dr. Constance A. (Connie) Knapp is Interim Dean and Professor of Information Systems at the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems at Pace University. She holds the PhD in business from the City University of New York Graduate Center, an MBA from Fordham University, and a BA in Mathematics from SUNY New Paltz.

Dr. Jerry Luftman is the Executive Director of Graduate Information Systems Programs, and Distinguished Professor at Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken New Jersey. His career includes strategic positions in management (Information Technology, including being a CIO, and consultant), management consulting, Information Systems, and executive education. After a notable twenty-two year career with IBM, and over fifteen years at Stevens, Dr. Luftman’s experience combines the strengths of practitioner, consultant, and academic. His framework for assessing IT-business alignment maturity is considered key in helping companies around the world understand, define, and scope an appropriate strategic planning direction that leverages Information Technology. Dr. Luftman is the founder and leader of Stevens graduate IS Programs; one of the largest in the world.

Dr. Gad Selig is the Associate Dean for Business Development and Outreach in the Graduate Studies and Research Division of the University of Bridgeport. Formerly, he was the Director, MS in Technology Management and Dual Graduate Business and Engineering Degree Programs. He earned degrees from City, Columbia, and Pace Universities in Economics, Engineering, and Business. He has authored four books and over 70 articles, chapters in books, conference proceedings and presentations. He is a dynamic and popular in demand speaker at industry conferences and corporate events in the U.S. and abroad. Dr. Selig, a former CIO, has over 30 years of business experience in a variety of industries as an executive, general manager and consultant.

Ed Pospesil is founder and Chairman of the Technology Executives Networking Group, LLC, a national professional community of nearly 6,000 selected Chief Information Officers, Chief Technology Officers, Vice Presidents, Directors of Technology, Product Development executives and entrepreneurial CEOs with organizations in all industries ranging from startups to the global Fortune 100, as well as non-profits and government agencies. He launched TENG in late 2001 as a virtual online community that enables members to exchange leads for senior executive IT leadership positions. He brings expertise in brand experience development, site design, digital marketing, e-commerce, CRM, and customer segmentation. Prior to working at Digitas, Dennis spent 10 years in retail banking with Bank of Boston (now Bank of America) and Manufacturers Hanover (now Chase).

Dennis holds a BS in Economics and an MBA from Binghamton University — State University of New York.

Jeff Trachsel, Vice President Group Director, Marketing
Jeff is a seasoned marketer with more than 12 years of interactive marketing experience. Jeff joined Digitas more than 3 years ago, and serves as the marketing lead on engagements for GE, Staples and General Motors. He works with his key capability leads across media, planning, strategy, and creative and guides the day-to-day operations of these accounts.

Prior to joining Digitas Jeff developed and managed interactive marketing programs for clients such as Royal Caribbean, Intel, and Sun Microsystems. Jeff is a graduate of Colgate University and holds an MBA from Babson College.

Chris Andrew, Vice President Group Director, Media
Chris specializes in integrated marketing communications strategies with a background in digital media, social media strategy/activation and marketing.

Chris currently leads the Digitas Global Social Media practice, developing strategies that tap into the dynamic and rapidly evolving social marketing environment. He is currently working with clients such as Kraft, Delta, American Express and Pfizer to develop and implement strategies including Facebook and Twitter as well as the larger social ecosystem. He has built proprietary communities and grown existing communities with rich content partnerships. He has established social listening engagements that result in tangible results for clients as well. Chris earned his B.S. in Marketing from the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis.

Amit Awasthi, Vice President-Architect
Amit is Vice President-Architect of Digitas Technology and brings with him more than 14 years of successful management and technical experience in planning, developing and implementing cutting-edge information solutions to address business opportunities across multiple industries. His experience spans Fortune 500+ enterprises such as GE Financial Services, GM, Fidelity, JP Morgan Chase, Capital One, State Street, Bayer, Invitrogen, Disney, Amtrak, and Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Prior to joining Digitas, Amit worked as an Enterprise Architect /Partner at eFoundry Corporation. Amit has worked in Technology leadership positions at Exodus, and Oracle. Amit has a Masters of Engineering in Automation and System Management from Moscow State Mining University, and also holds a degree in MBA/MS-MIS from Boston School of Management

Michael Del Priore – Global CIO at Church & Dwight

Michael Del Priore has over 20 years industry experience specializing in driving the innovative use of Information Technology in the Consumer Products and Pharmaceutical industries. Throughout his career he has consistently led large transformational initiatives in domestic and global settings where technology was deployed to drive business value. Michael is currently the Global CIO at Church & Dwight. In this role, Michael is responsible for leading the Information Technology function globally by developing the IT strategy and delivering the capabilities required to achieve the company’s strategic objectives. Prior to Church & Dwight, Michael was most recently Vice President and Global Head of Commercial Operations IT for Roche Pharma. Michael holds a BS degree in Management Information Systems and an MBA in Corporate Finance.

Andrea Randolph – Managing Director and CTO of MBIA Inc.

Ms. Randolph is a managing director and chief technology officer of MBIA Inc., responsible for directing and implementing the company’s global information management and technology strategies. In 2009, Ms. Randolph also assumed responsibilities for Management Services, including Facilities Management, Records Management, and the Corporate Information Center. Before joining MBIA in 2000, Ms. Randolph spent 20 years at MetLife, where she held a series of increasingly larger IT management roles, most recently as the Director of Information Technology in the Corporate Investments Division. Ms. Randolph was recognized by the National Eagle Leadership Institute with an Eagle Award in 1997 for her outstanding leadership at work and in the community while at MetLife. She began her career at Aetna Insurance Company. Ms. Randolph a board member of the Women’s Bond Club. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Gannon University.
