Your Attorneys Are Legally Required to Understand Cyberthreats. How Can IT Help Them?  


Attorneys in both private practice and serving as in-house counsel are ethically required to secure attorney-client information, and to ensure compliance with duties of confidentiality and technical competence. The commentary to Model Rule 1.1 of the American Bar Association Rules of Professional Conduct states,

To maintain the requisite knowledge and skill, a lawyer should keep abreast of changes in the law and its practice, including the benefits and risks associated with relevant technology, engage in continuing study and education and comply with all continuing legal education requirements to which the lawyer is subject.

This informative SIM presentation, designed for attorneys and the information management professionals who support them will provide real world information about actual threats, and the ways in which knowledgeable attorneys can effectively defend themselves. Armed with knowledge of present and emerging threats, attorneys and their staffs become better equipped to defend client confidences, their own information, and their financial resources.


SIM members are encouraged to bring their corporate attorneys to this informative session.  SIM also extends a cordial invitation to members of the Association of Corporate Counsel to attend this special session.  There is a Seminar Only registration option for attorneys.  1.5 hours of PA, NJ, and DE CLE, including 1.l0 hour of ethics credit have been applied for, and is pending approval.
