Most people have heard of Bitcoin or "cryptocurrency," especially in light of the rise of ransomware attacks. However, technologists, investors, developers and pundits are more focused on the potential of the underlying blockchain (or distributed ledger) technology to be as -- or more -- disruptive than the Internet. During this presentation, attorney Ira Kalina will discuss:
  • A primer on blockchain technology
  • How distributed ledger technology potentially disrupts recordkeeping
  • Blockchain-enabled "smart contracts"
  • Cryptocurrency and banking (okay, so it is partially about the money)
  • Applications across industries, including:
  • Insurance
  • Advertising
  • Education
  • Supply chain management
  • Government adoption of, and legal response to, blockchain technology
SIM members and guests will have the opportunity to learn from one of today's leading attorneys specializing in IT matters. Come with questions and concerns! Get answers!
