As you are aware, SIM Women is a network inside the SIM association that promotes mentorship, communication and career development amongst the female members of SIM.  It is a pleasure to invite you to SIM Women’s February webinar on Wednesday, February 25th at 3pm ET. Those who RSVP above will receive the webinar access information a day prior to the event.

Our February webinar is titled: Looking Into the Future Beyond IT and will be facilitated by SIM Women and SIM Philadelphia member Leona ThomasWhile things like big data, internet of things, mobile social, and cloud are the hot topics for technology and even in the media - they are definitely not the only thing IT and business leaders should be watching.  We all look at new trends in technology and what they can do – but what about the rest of the world beyond IT?  What does that mean for all of us?

This discussion will explore several changes that are and will be creating both challenges and new opportunities for organizations – and what they may mean to each of us.  A few examples include:

·          Economics – what happens as cash become more expensive, the cash on the sideline starts to come into the market, currency fluctuations, etc.?

·          Changes in regulations and enforcement practices happening in multiple countries and industries.

·          Changing demographics – and impacts both on the workforce and in market opportunities.

·          Impacts of the recession/depression and corresponding limited investments on our workforce and our organizations – can we get the resources we’ll need to respond as this begins to change?

·          Increasing trends to independent agents, consultants, and contractors vs. full time employees – what does that mean in terms of managing your environment and also new opportunities?

·          Trends in industries to move towards specialization and companies’ needs to change on a dime.

·          Increasing speed and reduced barriers to entry for new competitors.

Leona Thomas is a business transformation and enablement executive who focuses on shaping businesses for the future.  With over 20 years successfully delivering industry leading business transformation initiatives and turnarounds, Leona brings a unique perspective on identifying new opportunities and impacts for organizations - and how to take advantage of changing environments including:

·          Creating CSC’s Global REACH offerings allowing companies like DuPont to strategically negotiate sweeping new EU chemical regulatory regulations while at the same time, establishing a CSC’s Global Chemical Compliance and Sustainability practice – turning an initial $600K investment into a multimillion $ a year practice.

·          Leading critical turnarounds for Norm Thompson Outfitters, State Street Bank, and Nautilus preventing serious financial losses while creating revenue sources supporting future growth.

·          Leveraging new innovations putting companies such as SEI Investments and CVS get out in front of their competition – redefining their industries.

Throughout her career, Leona has helped companies from startups to Global Fortune 500’s reposition themselves for future growth.  She is recognized for being able to help companies figure out where to do, and more importantly, for making possible.

Leona is currently a strategic advisor and coach for multiple startups she’s helped launch and the William Way Community Center.  Prior to this she was the Global Transformation Director for Hibu and spent 10 years with CSC’s Strategic Management and Consulting Practices.  She also has BSE in Electrical and Computer Engineering as well as an Executive MBA from Drexel University and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma.
