SIM Women is a network inside the SIM association that promotes mentorship, communication and career development amongst the female members of SIM.

It is a pleasure to invite you to SIM Women’s September webinar titled "How to use the Science of Persuasion, Influence, and Negotiation" presented by Martin Medeiros of Medeiros Law Group, Inc on Wednesday, September 25th at 3pm ET. Those who RSVP that they can attend (click registration button above) will receive the webinar access information a day prior to the event.

"How to use the Science of Persuasion, Influence, and Negotiation"

“Let’s negotiate?” When you hear that, how do you feel? Do you freeze, want to avoid the interaction, do you brace yourself for conflict or do you embrace it? Negotiation is agency, it is freedom and it is how we communicate our needs to the world. And if we do so effectively, our needs will be met.

Over the last 20 years Martin Medeiros developed a systems-based approach to negotiation and discovered that we change our position on emotion, but we maintain that position using logic and reason. Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of California at Berkeley identify effective negotiation as the top skill for leaders. Martin uses peer reviewed science to take the anxiety out of negotiation that helps you increase the probability you will avoid losses and gain value. Learners are given takeaways they can use immediately after listening to Martin Medeiros speak.

Martin Medeiros is a practicing attorney, author, keynote speaker, instructor and researcher on persuasion, influence and negotiation. He was chair of the Oregon State Bar Technology Law Section and was a member of the SIM Technology Procurement group for years. He represents startups, Fortune 500 companies and worked at an Am Law 100 firm. He is a regular contributor to the BBC on international trade, technology and intellectual property. He lives in Portland, Oregon.

Martin closed thousands of transactions over the last 25 years working for Fortune 500 companies and an Am Law 100 firm as an attorney. He helps technical professionals communicate their needs to the world as a keynote speaker, breakout and workshop teacher. He teaches the science of negotiation, influence and persuasion and authored five books on the topic.
