Leadership Spotlight: Pat Randall, 2015 SIM Leader of the Year Winner

1. Please tell us a little about yourself:
I have worked for Kforce, Inc. for almost 20 years, and currently work as a Client Relationship Partner for the Firm. I have been a SIM member for 16 years, encouraged to join and become a volunteer on the Membership Committee by a co-worker, Bill Grady, who was himself a long time SIM member.  After serving as Membership Chair for several years, I served as President of the chapter for 2 years. 2. Provide a brief overview of your chapter and your role within the chapter:
Over the years, the Boston chapter has grown to be the largest chapter, but not without a lot of hard work by our many volunteers. We are constantly working to improve our member experience, adding new programs all the time to appeal to all our constituents. For example, our CIO Roundtable is one of our most popular programs, so we have added a Roundtable in Providence. Read more...

3. What are the hottest trends in the IT industry?
Boston is seeing the same hot trends as the rest of the country – namely Security, Big Data & Advanced Analytics, and Shadow IT.

4. What challenges is your chapter currently facing?
Our biggest challenge right now is competing for the time of our CIO members. The membership committee has recently made personal phone calls to all members who have not been attending our meetings regularly, in an effort to get our members more engaged in the chapter.

5. How can a member get involved in the SIM Boston chapter?
There are a lot of opportunities to get involved. With all the varied programs we have, there are always opportunities to volunteer for committees, so that we can continue to make our programs better.

Act Now For $500 Early Bird Discount To RLF

With the arrival of the new year, many of the 2016 Regional Leadership Forum (RLF) programs are just weeks away from starting – and $500 “early bird” discounts are still available for some programs.

“Many organizations begin the new year with new budget allocations, so now is a great time for companies to consider the RLF for their top talent,” said Phil Zwieg, RLF Director.  “Not only do SIM members receive a $600 discount per participant, but SIM members can also receive an additional $500 discount per participant if registration is paid by the early bird deadline.”

Non-SIM members may also take advantage of the $500 early bird discount, said Zwieg.

The $500 discount deadlines vary by RLF program location and remain available for six of the ten programs.  They include:

  • January 30, 2016 for the Gateway (St. Louis), New York Metro, Pacific Northwest (Seattle / Portland) and Pacific Southwest (Los Angeles) programs
  • February 15, 2016 for the Northeast Spring (Boston) and Southeast (St. Petersburg, FL) programs

SIM’s RLF program takes high-potential individuals and helps them develop their own authentic leadership style and the emotional intelligence, personal strengths, and core competencies that define true leaders.
