A key value proposition of the SIM Atlanta Chapter ( is the thought provoking and intellectually stimulating discussions at the monthly meetings. In a cordial and plush setting, a select group of senior IS practitioners and thought leaders share ideas and practices on important IS issues.     2016 STEM Outreach Awards- Nominations Being Accepted
    Nominations are being currently being accepted on for the inaugural STEM Outreach awards.  The awards provide a means for SIM to recognize contributions of our members' support, volunteerism and thought leadership for STEM Initiatives in their communities.   

    Individuals, SIM chapters and SIM and APC companies may nominate themselves or another deserving candidate within SIM.   The winners will be recognized at Simposium2016 in October.   

    Don’t delay, submit your nominations to be recognized for the outstanding efforts that SIM Chapters are doing to further the STEM conversation.  The nomination process closes on September 1st. 

    Boardroom Rodeo: How to Align the C-Suite and Make Better Security Decisions
    Do you find yourself trying to effectively convey the impact of security risks to your board and business partners without sounding like Chicken Little?  Getting business to understand the costs and tradeoffs related to security?  Setting reasonable and realistic expectations about security risks?


    SIM’s Cybersecurity SIG invites all SIM members to join the SIG and to register for its next webinar, which is being held next Tuesday, 8/16 (3:00EST/12:00PST).  Diana Kelley, Executive Security Advisor in IBM Security, will share findings from a recent IBM institute for Business Value survey that puts cybersecurity in context for business.  The survey was conducted with members of the C-suite and compared to data from IBM CISO surveys and X-Force threat research.

    Strong Ethics Are A Must For 21st Century Leaders
    Urging unwavering adherence to ethical principles and practices is a distinctive component of SIM’s 2016 Executive RLF program.  

    Despite the relentless transformations prevalent in today’s world, there is one constant … no matter what changes hurl themselves at 21st century leaders they must maintain strong ethics and moral principles.  That is why one of the sessions of SIM’s Executive RLF program stresses absolute adherence to strong ethical behavior based upon deep introspection of one’s moral development. 

    The session begins with participants reflecting upon their individual development of values, recognizing that people around them – at home, at work, in worship, at play – have significant influence on one’s ethical development and behavior.  After this introspection, participants construct a written history of their personal moral development, which provides a relevant framework for discussion about ethical dilemmas faced in the workplace and in society. Read more…
