Topic: Balancing Collecting and Connecting: Key Trends in Data Management

Ted Friedman

Data is at the center of the digital business platform, but in reality data is everywhere: things, IT systems, customers and partner ecosystems all create and consume data. Organizations need to access, understand, manage and trust data in a flexible and agile manner. Approaches based on centralized collection of data will quickly become untenable.  Success in the era of digital business requires modernizing data management infrastructure and disciplines by striking a different balance between collecting data and connecting to data.

Ted Friedman Bio: As a member of the Data & Analytics team, Ted conducts research focused on enterprise information management, information governance, information implications of the Internet of Things, data integration and data quality. He works with Gartner clients on building the business case for investing in and furthering their maturity in these areas. In addition, he closely follows the related technology markets, advising clients on vendor and tool selection, price negotiation, and emerging deployment approaches for optimal impact and value. He assists clients with modernization strategies for their data management programs and technology infrastructure.

NEOSIM Summer 2017 Networking Event Recap

On a beautiful evening in the heart of vacation season (Monday, July 31), the NEOSIM chapter hosted a fun networking event for members and non-members. We had 20 IT leaders in attendance, including three new members. It was a great night of fresh craft beer, pizza and networking at the Terrestrial Brewing Company in Battery Park, near Edgewater Beach.
