FEBRUARY EVENT

SKILLS GAPS IN THE STEM PIPELINE

Join the St. Louis Chapter of the Society for Information Management (SIM) for a panel discussion on the skills gap in the STEM pipeline. Is the gap real, or is it just perceived to exist? Is there really a variance between what organizations expect from their IT professionals and what those professionals can actually deliver? If so, what can be done to address this “gap”?

Our panelists are well respected in their fields, and bring with them a wealth of experience:

ü  Lina Young, Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer, Peabody Energy

ü  David Whidden, Technical Recruiter, Randstad Technologies

ü  Sandy Fitzgibbon, President, St. Louis Regional CSTA (Computer Science Teachers Association) Chapter

ü  Sarah Heger, Principal, Marian Middle School

This rare opportunity is reserved exclusively for SIM St. Louis members and their guests. This panel discussion will provide points of view from different perspectives. Lina Young can provide a perspective from an IT Executive’s point of view, David Whidden can provide insights on the existing challenges in the candidate market, Sandy Fitzgibbon can discuss the standardized curriculum in K-12 education, and Sarah Heger can explain how they have taken standard curriculum and customize it to give students an educational advantage.
