Presentation:  How Cybersecurity is Defining the IT Organization of the Future

There has been much discussion of how CIO’s will meet the cybersecurity threats to their business and government organizations.    The discussion is often focused on cybersecurity success being a technology challenge that requires cybersecurity tools, people, and governance.    But, CIO’s also face the rapid introduction of technologies from Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) and machine learning in data analytics, distributed data through blockchain technologies, software defined data centers and more.    All of these challenges are magnified by the structure of the IT workforce, including the limited number of people within the organization who possess institutional knowledge and the great need for more people with new IT skills that are in short supply in the labor market.   How can the CIO move confidently into the future with cybersecurity, innovation, and operational excellence as the three pillars of their strategy?    How can CIO’s engage their business partners in that strategy?

The business of transformation: How to drive meaningful change through relationships and collaboration across the lines.

Speaker:  Teri Takai, Senior Advisor for Center of Digital Government

Teri Takai, Executive Director, Center for Digital Government; Formerly CIO for the U.S. Department of Defense, the States of California and Michigan and Meridian Health. Teri’s 25+ year career journey in technology, includes her role as the first female CIO for the Department of Defense, where she spearheaded efforts to consolidate technology infrastructure and create a cybersecurity workforce strategy for the federal government’s largest agency.
