Silicon Shire - the Future of greater Eugene

Greater Eugene Oregon is increasingly known as one of the best places in the country for internet access and was recently recognized as the first Mozilla Gigabit City on the West Coast. In the next few years our region could also could be known as one of the best places to find tech talent.

Join SIM Eugene and Matt Sayre from the Technology Association of Oregon to hear about ambitious plans to grow the local tech sector and increase economic prosperity throughout Lane County.

Matt Sayre

Director of Southern Willamette Valley
Technology Association of Oregon
Matt is an Oregon native and University of Oregon Alumni, with degrees in Economics, Business, and Geography. After finding professional success in the Bay Area and Portland, he followed the Salmon pattern and returned home to raise his two boys in the southern Willamette Valley. In the Spring of 2015 Matt joined The Technology Association of Oregon, based in Eugene. In the Summer of 2015, Eugene was recognized as one of the Top 10 up and coming tech cities in the Nation - coincidence, maybe. Then following a series of tech community wins in K-12 STEM Education, fiber infrastructure, and post-secondary talent retention, Matt was recognized as a ’20 under 40 Rising Business Star’ by The Register-Guard. Currently Matt focuses on growth inputs that will triple the size of Eugene’s downtown tech employment by 2021.
