Hello ladies,

SIM Women is a network inside the SIM association that promotes mentorship, communication and career development amongst the female members of SIM.

It is a pleasure to invite you to SIM Women’s June webinar “One Size Does NOT Fit All” on Wednesday, June 29th at 3pm ET. Those who RSVP that they can attend will receive the webinar access information a day prior to the event.

As women move forward in their careers, the discussion often defaults to their executive presence. Interestingly, executive presence has remained a mysterious “X Factor” – we know it’s important, but what is it? More importantly, how do women in leadership leverage it to make an impact and drive outcomes? Through extensive research, Suzanne Bates and her team have cracked the code on executive presence and redefined it in a way that levels the playing field for women leaders. As highlighted in the new book, All the Leader You Can Be: The Science of Achieving Extraordinary Executive Presence (McGraw Hill), they take presence beyond executive image and presentation skill, to identify the specific qualities of leadership that enable both men and women to align, inspire and move people to act.

Suzanne’s energizing and interactive program will bust the conventional wisdom that women’s leadership development can be done with a “one size fits all” approach. She’ll reveal the data and research, gathered through her firm’s assessment of hundreds of leaders, that suggests:

  • How executive presence goes beyond surface qualities to encompass your Character, Substance, and Style
  • The 15 facets of executive presence within these dimensions, such as Authenticity, Restraint, Practical Wisdom, Resonance, and Intentionality, that are proven to help you engage and motivate others
  • How to leverage your unique strengths in each to make a bigger impact and drive business outcomes
  • Why leadership development for women needs to go beyond the common buckets of "confidence," "style," and "assertiveness"

Suzanne Bates is the CEO of Bates, a firm founded in 2000 with a mission today to help leaders influence the world.  The firm is distinguished in the field of leadership development for its ground breaking research and practical approach to helping leaders make an impact.

The firm’s roster of senior executive clients is a who’s who of top global companies that turn to Bates for advice, consulting, executive coaching and expertise in the field of executive presence and communicative leadership.  In 2013, the firm researched, piloted and launched the first-ever research-based model of executive presence, and operationalized it in the scientifically validated assessment tool, the Bates ExPI™. The Bates Model of Executive Presence provides organizations with a rich, multi-dimensional framework for measuring the way individual leaders influence and make an impact to drive business results.

Suzanne pioneered a unique executive coaching program model focused on leadership and communication. Her book launched the popular leadership development program, Speak Like a CEO Boot Camp, and her firm’s new research on executive presence is the basis of a new leadership offering, the Executive Presence Mastery Program.

Suzanne has been an active member of many organizations. She is past President of the New England Chapter of the National Speakers Association, a past member of the Women's Presidents Organization, past member of the board of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Mass, and past president of the Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus.  She has earned the Pinnacle Award from the Boston Chamber of Commerce, The Exceptional Women Entrepreneurial Award, and the Alan Weiss Award for Excellence, among others.  Suzanne earned her B.S. in Journalism from the University of Illinois. She lives in Wellesley, Mass. with her husband and daughter.

"Women helping Women" is a long-standing concept. To all our members, as always, I hope you continue to participate in and personally benefit from SIM Women. We can't do it without you!
