The attendees and the facilitators of SIM Silver invite you to the November 10th meeting. The roots of SIM Silver go back several years to when many officers of SIM and sitting CIOs in companies from around Boston asked themselves the questions – what’s next? Where is the next challenge? And how do I prepare for what is next? Professionally? Personally? Is there life after the challenges we have faced over our work career? We had been mentored early in our career and had mentored many as we had succeeded in our career but now we were going to be going it alone. We decided that just as we had come together as a very successful SIM Chapter we would turn to the folks we had gotten to know from SIM meetings and Roundtables and asked for help over the years for the personnel issues, the failing project implementation, etc., We turned to the people that had walked in our shoes to be friends as we entered a period in our business lives we had never gone before. We still loved technology, the challenges of the broken project and the rewards from seeing a staff member succeed but we were looking forward to new challenges ahead.
Now we feel there are many SIM members finding themselves in a similar place. As they naturally start thinking about next steps in a career, they should consider participating in SIM Silver as most times our program topics will be of interest. The next meeting is a prime example when Roberta Taylor will provide you help in managing the transitional phases of your professional life. Roberta’s presentation is listed below so come join us at 4:00 PM at Babson Hall, Babson College on November Nov 10 followed by dinner.

Creating an Inspired Retirement
Retirement is not what it used to be! People are living longer, many continuing to work well into their 70’s and beyond, starting entrepreneurial ventures, encore careers and volunteering. The new retirement paradigm promises a productive and satisfying next chapter of life, embracing values and offering opportunities for lifelong learning and growth.
But actualizing your vision for what’s next involves preparation and planning. Roberta Taylor, life planning and retirement coach and co-author of The Couple’s Retirement Puzzle, will offer tips, and anecdotes that will help you think about what you want in your next chapter, and how to make it happen. Roberta will share Three Critical Concepts that can help you retire successfully and create the life you want to be living.
Creating an inspired retirement comes from self-knowledge, thoughtful planning, experience and wisdom. At some point, what you’re retiring “to” become more important than what you’re retiring “from”. Time is a precious commodity; a gift and a responsibility. Time is the gift, using it well is the responsibility!
