Monday morning in Washington, D.C. President Obama announced the new TechHire initiative in which the White House will launch a $100 million H-1B grant competition that will include Saint Louis as well as 21 other cities around the nation.

According to a White House release, TechHire will not only work with universities and community colleges but with nontraditional approaches like "coding bootcamps," such as St. Louis-based LaunchCode. Furthermore, TechHire will use LaunchCode's model to place up-and-coming computer programmers with its network of more than 150 local employers, including companies like Monsanto, MasterCard and Enterprise.

Join SIM Saint Louis as Brendan Lind, co-founder of LaunchCode, and LaShana Lewis, a LaunchCode candidate speak about what this initiative means to Saint Louis and to our local businesses on Thursday March 19, 2015 at Webster University.
