Topic: The New IT; The Future is Now
The role of IT has evolved as the technology landscape has evolved with advances in mobile devices, social media, SaaS, big data, and the cloud. Traditional organizational structures, roles and responsibilities, and expectations continue to be re-defined. Today's users of technology are much more technologically literate and want to have the ability to personalize their experience and not be encumbered by traditional IT rules. In order to support these emerging needs, IT itself must undergo profound changes to continue to exist. We need to re-invent ourselves and develop new skills that will enable us to become recognized members of the leadership team. These skills will support our roles as:

Alan Guibord will facilitate an interactive discussion with your fellow SIM practitioners to explore this phenomenon and what progressive organizations are doing to address it.
Alan is the Co-Founder and President of The Advisory Council International LLC, a not for profit serving the IT Industry (TAC-INT). Prior to founding TAC-INT, Al was President and CEO of Computerworld, Vice President and CIO at Fort James Corp., Vice President of IT for RR Donnelley and Sons, and CIO of PictureTel, Inc. Mr. Guibord has been a member of several key executive advisory boards, including Oracle and Microsoft. He is also the author of “The IT Leadership Manual,” published in September 2012.
