All Customer Service and Helpdesk Directors and Managers are invited to attend the next Boston SIM Helpdesk Roundtable session Tuesday, October 7th, from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be hosted at Tedeschi Foods, Rockland, MA, followed by a networking dinner at a local restaurant.
The meeting will be in a roundtable format, so be prepared to share your experiences and ideas. Whenever possible, bring sample materials we can all reference and/or use as a discussion point.
The topics for discussion will be Desktop Imaging and Retention Policies
IT Helpdesks cannot afford to waste time and resources, particularly when there are tools that will significantly improve its effectiveness. Disk imaging is a mature technology that IT shops should be using to ensure:
• Consistent setup of desktop systems to a standardized configuration.
• Minimal help desk tickets due to post-setup inconsistencies and errors.
• System life is maximized.
• Quick resolution to system performance and reliability issues when bit rot sets in.
Please come prepared to discuss
· Your imaging system / software and how you use it;
· How many systems are supported?
· Are they standardized?
· Geographical locations?
· Refresh schedules?
· Admin Access Rights and Software Installation Policies
· Hardware and OS supported
Document Retention Policy
Most organizations keep copies of certain documents for legal, regulatory, and/or operational reasons. This applies not only to hard-copy, but to digital documents, email, messages, and so on.

Registration and networking will start at 2:00 p.m. and the session will run from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. We will send a confirmation email to all registrants the day prior to the meeting. Please be sure to email firstname.lastname@example.org (Nan Jurgelewicz) if you can NOT join us for dinner so we may make the appropriate arrangements with the restaurant.
We encourage all attendees to stay for dinner to continue our discussion, network with other help desk professionals, and help us grow our roundtable group. The cost of $50 includes the meeting and dinner.

SIM Membership rule change: At least one person from your company, preferably the senior Customer Service manager, must be a Boston SIM member in order for your staff to attend. But we have relaxed the rules now so that the senior person is now allowed to bring other co-workers who might be able to benefit or contribute to the discussion. All attendees must register and pay for the individual sessions, but only the senior-most person is required to be a SIM member. If you have any questions, contact us for more information.
