10th Annual Leadership Development Workshop

What's in Your Talent Pipeline?

Find, Develop and Retain Talent and Leaders for the Next Decade

Industry headlines report an escalating shortage of IT and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) capacity in the U.S. Corporations and Start-ups complete for scarce resources. This interactive workshop will explore the shortage - wherever it occurs: preparation of K-12 students, skilled coders through effective managers and leaders.

We will examine the strategies currently being used to decrease perceived shortages:

Education
Re-training of staff
Outsourcing
Specialized training
Contract-to-hire
Apprenticeships
Talent development for new hires
...and more

As organizations search for talent, they also recognize the need to develop future corporate leaders. Approaches vary widely from OTJ to structured executive programs. We will examine these options, evaluate their pros and cons, and consider what portion of this development falls on the shoulders of the individual and how much needs intentional career management on the part of the organization.

Facilitator: Phil Zwieg is a Facilitator for the Regional Leadership Forum sponsored by the Society for Information Management (SIM).  He formerly served as VP, Information Systems at Northwestern Mutual.  Phil received his BSBA from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and his MBA from Marquette University.  In 2009, Phil was named IT Leader of the Year 2009 by SIM International.
