The Austin Regional Intelligence Center (ARIC) is a
collaborative effort of ten Public Safety Agencies in Hays, Travis and
Williamson Counties. The mission of ARIC is to maximize the ability to detect,
prevent, apprehend, and respond to criminal and terrorist activity. The tour will highlight how technology is
leveraged in a collaborative working environment in support of regional crime
analysis and information sharing.

Our tour will be led by SIM member Al Johnson. Al has been with the Austin Police Department for close to 20 years. He started off as a volunteer and is now the Information Systems Manager, dealing with analytics and data related IT projects. He is also a Lifetime Certified Criminal Analyst.

Robert Turner is an Information Technology Project Manager for City of Austin with 14 years experience at the City and nearly 30 working with technology systems. PARKING at the event: Pull into the parking lot for DPS which is shown in this google map link (Enter the lot from Denson Dr, not Guadalupe): https://goo.gl/maps/ZqVkB. Parking is available in the front, side and back of the building. Park in any open, non-labeled space. If needed, additional parking can be found along Guadalupe.
ENTRANCE: We will enter via the side door. Al Johnson will meet and escort us into the building. Upon arrival, text Cathy McGuinness (512 680 0662) if you don’t see Al at the side door.
Parking at Threadgill’s: Threadgill’s North is a 2 minute drive from this DPS location. To get there, make a left onto Denson as you exit the parking lot and then make a right turn on Lamar. Threadgill’s will be about 1/4 mile up Lamar on the left. The entrance to the Threadgill’s parking lot is along the left side of the Threadgill’s building. Parking is behind the restaurant. If that lot is full, there is more parking further back and to the right.
