He is an IT strategist and senior analyst with a broad background in IT, Enterprise Architecture and Executive Management. Part of his time is spent advising organizations on innovation, transformational projects and architectural processes. Erik is also a trainer, speaker at seminars and an author. He has written a series of books, covering topics such as mobile technologies, open innovation, SOA, Cloud computing and collaboration. His most recent publications are ‘The Connected Workforce – making your digital transformation work’ and four reports on Big Data. He is currently working on an in-depth description of the current state of IT security. Erik is based in Washington, DC.

The continuing theme of VINT research is how new technology is emerging, how technology innovation effects behavior and how only actual implementation and adoption drive business change. The VINT Research institute has published and organized events around topics such as Big Data, Collaboration, Social Media, Open Innovation, Mobile technology, Cloud Computing, new media developments, web2.0, the commoditization of IT and IT governance.

For March 18, he will focus on Digital Transformation:

Are you ready for a digital transformation? Do you have what it takes to succeed in this age of cloud, social, mobile and big data analytics? Successful companies are reinventing themselves while the slow adopters are struggling to survive. And how can you make this transformation practical? In this presentation, we’ll talk about how the economy of IT is changing fundamentally, what is needed to be successful and how you can start a digital transformation yourself. Through discussion and interaction we can explore what transformation means for you and what opportunities lie ahead. You will learn about how different trends fit together and hear examples of how to capitalize on this new reality. While digital transformation may sound big and unachievable, this session will be very down-to-earth and fun and will give you some pointers that will help you in the turbulent years ahead!

Part of the content of this talk is based on the Sogeti VINT book ‘No More secrets with Big Data analytics’.
