We are pleased to announce the September 20th  FWSIM program will showcase IBM’s Industry Solutions Lab.  At this session, Dr. Mahmoud Naghshineh, Vice President, Services Research and Services Innovation Lab for IBM Research, will present on IBM's Global Technology Outlook, offering a survey of future computing and technology trends, including Smarter Cities, Analytics, Security and other topics.  He will be joined by Ms. Jeanette Horan, Vice President and Chief Information Officer of IBM and Ms. Frances West, Director of the Worldwide Human Ability and Accessibility Center in Research.  Ms. Horan and Ms. West will speak on the use of Social Media in IBM and People-Centric Innovation. 


Session participants will be able to tour the IBM Research Industry Solutions Lab,showcasing demonstrations of IBM's latest technology prototypes and innovations, from Watson to high temperature superconductivity.


Social Media Analytics 


Cognos Consumer Insight and Social-media Micro-segmentation and Real-time Correlation (SMARC)


Increasingly, market professionals need to integrate social media analytics into their customer processes to drive deeper customer relationships.  Retailers need to be more precise, agile and responsive to customer demands and opinions expressed through social media in order to build advocacy and improve loyalty.


We will share innovative solutions focused on corporate brand and reputation analysis, text analytics, data mining, sentiment and trend detection.


Security, Privacy, Biometrics and Risk & Compliance


Cryptography, biometrics, autonomic protection (of both systems and information) and Secure Hardware are key enablers of security. The combination of these facets is necessary to protect privacy and ensure risks are minimized and ensure regulatory compliance. Security demonstrations include secure hardware in client machines, biometric techniques, digital video surveillance, autonomic security. Privacy demos include Hippocratic database, idemix and cancelable biometrics. Operational Risk Quantification and Hippocratic DB demos address risk and compliance issues.


Future of Watson


In 2011 Watson successfully competed on the TV game show Jeopardy!, but the future of Watson lies in adapting its powerful capabilities for business.  This demonstration will focus on the ways Watson is being adapted for use while highlighting possible use cases by knowledge workers in a variety of industries.


Customer Experience Shopping


Explore live scenarios and how cutting-edge technologies can create new and exciting shopping experiences. We will demonstrate solutions that deliver a smarter and seamless shopping experience across customer touch points.  We will explore consumer mobile shopping (both inside and outside the store), enabled within the store by presence detection and inventory visibility; sales associate mobility, empowering employees to provide a more intensive level of service; and consumer mobile self-checkout. 

  • Event is limited to the first 70 registered by Monday, September 17th.
