As companies emerge from challenging economic times and turn the corner to face tremendous opportunities, the CIO's role is more and more about strategy and optimizing business results.  Today’s complex IT solutions create enormous quantities of system data and logs that are rarely analyzed or understood.  Hidden within this data are critical clues to customer habits, business behavior, security events, and indications of system health, performance and capacity constraints.  The challenge, as well as the enormous opportunity, is to mine this data and harvest substantial business benefits to your company’s advantage.

Speaker: Doug Harr, Chief Information Officer, Splunk

Doug and his team fulfill Splunk's information technology needs using a combination of on-premise and private and public cloud solutions, with a heavy emphasis on software and infrastructure "as a service". Doug is passionate about deploying IT solutions in this way, delivering advanced capabilities to his business customers, all highly extensible and metered on a variable-cost basis.

Doug has been leading IT organizations for half of his career, at companies such as Ingres Corporation, Portal Software, and Hewlett Packard. The rest of the time has has been in the IT consulting field, focused on delivering enterprise business applications to clients and technology companies like Symantec, VMware and Activision.

Doug has a B.S. degree in Business from Cal Poly, SLO. He is engaged in the CISE CIO consortium, lectures at several local universities and is Treasurer for the CIO Scholarship fund.
