Mike Ellsworth "Social Media in the Work Place

April 21, 2011 – Northland Inn Brooklyn Park, MN

To Tweet or Not to Tweet: What is the Question?

The horse has left the barn. Whether they’re doing it at work or on their own time, your employees are using social media.  Are they talking about you? Should you care?  Should you block all social media access at the firewall just to be safe?  Every organization is grappling with questions such as these while senior leaders come to terms with the revolutionary and potentially frightening implications of social media.

Enterprise social media strategist Mike Ellsworth will lead SIM members and guests through some of the issues, liabilities, and advantages employee use of social media presents for enterprises.  He’ll examine the pitfalls and also the benefits of social media, make recommendations for policies and usage rules, and present best practices from companies that have implemented successful social media strategies.

Mike Ellsworth is a partner in Social Media Performance Group and has been using social networks since Prodigy and Compuserve in the '80s, and USENET and The Well in the '90s. He wrote his first social media proposal in 2001 and has been a LinkedIn user since 2003, a Facebook user since before old folks could join, and an active Twitter user for the last two years.  In his 26 year IT career he has been a tech writer and trainer, software product manager, IT project and program manager, and an IT strategy consultant..

Please join SIM in this very informative and interactive conversation about Social Media in the work place.
