With recent announcements from companies such as eBay, Microsoft, SAP, EMC, UPS, and Coca-Cola, it seems everybody is going green these days. Which begs a question we've grappled with before: Is it a fad or smart business?

Companies are placing big bets on escalating energy and environmental concerns, costs, risks, regulations and opportunities. But what can you do on a smaller scale? And does it make business sense for you? More and more companies are hearing the buzz and looking to IT for answers and leadership on green business tactics and strategies.

This seminar will focus on bottom-line business drivers and cost reduction strategies that lead to a business case for green IT as a by-product. Subject matters to be covered include data center consolidation and management, server storage, virtualization, power management, printer fleet management, and unified and virtual communications.

Our seminar leader, Tony Leger, is a consultant, a Six Sigma Black Belt, and a recognized authority on the subject of Green IT. He is an IT industry veteran of 25+ years with responsibilities ranging from switching/optical product quality assurance and operations support to running Nortel's global data center and R&D infrastructure efforts. Most recently he worked in the Office of the CIO at Nortel leading their Six Sigma efforts and representing IT on Nortel's Global Sustainability Council. He was also contributor to the 2008 book Building a Green IT Team: Leading CTOs and CIOs on Implementing Green Procedures, Garnering Executive Support, and Developing Best Practices for Energy Conservation.
