Does "IT Drive Business" or "Business Drive IT"? How do you align your IT organization with Business Imperatives?

In the first part of the program Tony will focus on the What: Are you solving a business problem or an IT problem? Does the business feel the applications are an IT problem or a business problem? Do you always clearly map business cases/requirements back to the overarching strategy?How are investments prioritized and measured?What are the sources of value that you are looking at to substantiate projects?

Next he will focus on the How: How is IT helping drive revenue growth? Is the business asking IT to cut cost or to reduce IT spending? How is risk managed across the business and how does IT support remediation? How are you demonstrating the value of IT to your organization? Do you have an IT strategic roadmap that aligns business needs/vision?

Finally, he will ask the group to participate in an open discussion and intends to highlight best practices. Outcomes from this discussion will include: An understanding of how your peers view their IT business relative to their overall organization. Techniques that can be used with your business partners to align IT more strategically to desired business outcomes.

Our Speaker, Tony Vennard has over 20 years experience building and leading cross-functional teams with diverse business and technical backgrounds. He has demonstrated information technology leadership in alignment of business needs with technology to support business goals and objectives. He has Public Accounting and Controller experience in auditing, tax, financial management, human resources and information systems management. Tony is a CPA and has a Carlson Executive MBA from the University of Minnesota. He has experience across many industries having worked with discrete and process manufacturing, professional services, utilities, construction, retail, high tech and financial services organizations

Currently, Tony is Insight Program Director at Oracle Corporation where he is leveraging his work experience and the extended network of consulting and solution specialists within Oracle working with Business and IT Executive Leadership.
