Madeline Weiss

As the APC program director, Madeline Weiss takes overall responsibility for the program and facilitates APC meetings. She is president of Weiss Associates, a consulting firm specializing in organizational strategy and change, especially as they relate to information services and technology. With 35 years’ experience, Weiss consults to global businesses (many in the Fortune 100), international non-profits, universities and professional organizations. She earned a Ph.D. and MS from The American University, and serves on several business school advisory boards.

Blake Ives, Research Director

Blake Ives

Blake is C.T. Bauer Chair in Business Leadership and Director, Information Systems Research Center at the C.T. Bauer College of Business, University of Houston. Blake has worked as an IT professional for 30 years, the last 16 as a chaired university professor. His expertise lies in areas of IT management and IT strategy. Blake has authored numerous articles on these and other topics and is among the most highly cited researchers in the field of information systems. In addition to extensive editorial experience, he has consulted for dozens of organizations. He holds an MS and Ph.D., the latter from the University of Minnesota. He has held distinguished fellowships at Harvard and Oxford.

Heather A. Smith, Senior Research Associate 

Heather A. Smith is the world’s most-published researcher on IT management issues (Clarke & Warren, 2006). A Senior Research Associate with Queen’s University School of Business, she is the author of three books: the award-winning Management Challenges in IS: Successful Strategies and Appropriate Action, Making IT Happen: Critical Issues in IT Management and Information Technology and Organizational Transformation: Solving the Management Puzzle. A former senior IT manager, she is currently co-director of the IT Management Forum and the CIO Brief, which facilitate inter-organizational learning among senior IT executives. As Research Associate for the Advanced Practices Council, she frequently collaborates with academics to bring a practical business focus to their research. Her most recent projects are with Emory University, Athabasca University, Boston University and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales. Her research is published in a variety of journals and books including MIT Sloan Management Review, MIS Quarterly-Executive, Communications of the Association of Information Systems, Knowledge Management Research and Practice, Journal of Information Systems and Technology, Journal of Information Technology Management, Information and Management, Database, CIO Canada, and the CIO Governments Review.
