Tim Crawford – President
Director, IT Operations – Graduate School of Business – Stanford University

Tim Crawford has 20 years of experience in IT Operations, Infrastructure, and Information Security. Tim currently serves as Director of IT Operations for Stanford University's Graduate School of Business (GSB). In his role, he oversees GSB’s network, systems, data center, messaging, and security operations. Tim has held leadership roles managing global infrastructures and operations for Knight-Ridder, Philips Electronics, and National Semiconductor. In addition, Tim has written for publications from CMP, IDG and Ziff-Davis including InfoWorld, PC Magazine and VAR Business. Tim has spoken at industry conferences and seminars. Tim currently serves on the boards of the Society for Information Management (SIM) San Francisco Bay Area Chapter, and the Golden Gate University Alumni Association.

Tim received an MBA in International Business with Honors and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems both from Golden Gate University.


Sreelakshmi Kolli – Vice President
Director of Business Performance Improvement – Align Technology Inc.

Sreelakshmi Kolli is currently the Director of Business Performance Improvement at Align Technology Inc, a medical device company engaged in the design, manufacture and marketing of Invisalign®, the world's leading invisible orthodontic product. Previously at Align, she was responsible for Global IT Operations, which included the maintenance and availability of company-wide applications, computing and networking infrastructures. She is part of the IT leadership team that evaluates and develops an overall IT strategy in line with the business needs. Sree has over 11 years of experience in different IT and Product development roles at CTSpace, Accenture, Verizon and Wipro Systems.


Rocky Vienna - VP Communications
President, Vienna Technology Group

Rocky Vienna is the President and Founder of Vienna Technology Group.  Before starting Vienna Technology Group in 2001, Mr. Vienna held senior IT management positions at Bank of America, Apple Computer, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Macromedia, and Knight Ridder Digital.  He has also served as CIO for two start-up companies.
 

Vienna Technology Group provides information technology and business management consulting services focused on optimizing the performance of IT organizations.  Consulting services include virtual CIO services, business continuity planning, IT assessments, strategic IT planning, IT operations, IT compliance management, and project management. 

Mr. Vienna served on the Board of Directors at The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, where he chaired the Technology Advisory Committee.  He also served on the Board of Directors for the Professional and Technical Consultants Association.

Mr. Vienna is a Certified Information Systems Auditor.

Mark Ginestro – VP Membership
Managing Partner of Client Services – Clarkston Consulting

Mark Ginestro is a managing partner of client services within Clarkston Consulting’s life sciences vertical, working with pharmaceutical, medical device, and biotechnology firms. During his 11 years with Clarkston Consulting, he has gained experience delivering business results in the areas of regulatory compliance, business process improvement, change management, product development, supply chain, and strategy.
 

Ginestro also served as the founder and managing director of Clarkston’s Asian operations, for three years before returning to the United States. Some of the knowledge gained from this experience includes: planning international business expansion, understanding local legal environments, building operations and hiring staff, and developing new client relationships.

Ginestro graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan where he received a B.S. in electrical engineering. He has also completed an Executive Education Program and the Harvard Business School.

 
Mike McAlpen - VP Programs
Program Manager, Americas, IT Governance/EA/ITSM, Hewlett-Packard

Mike’s background includes 27 years development, IT Management, Consulting, Management, Business development, and Marketing.  Mike has been with HP for over 10 years and most recently the Americas lead for HP’s IT Governance, Enterprise Architecture and IT Service Management Services Consulting and Software Solutions teams.  Mike was recently named a “Most Valuable Player” by HP Americas business leadership.  Mike was also chosen by HP U.S. leadership to provide IT Governance, Enterprise Architecture and Services Management based consultative training across all U.S. district offices. 

For many years Mike has organized, facilitated and/or acted as speaker for numerous IT Governance, Enterprise Architecture and Service Management/ITSM events and workshops across the U.S.

During the last year Mike has been helping SIM Chapters across the U.S. and in Canada organize, fund and find speakers for IT Governance, EA, Service Management, Security and other Chapter events.
 
Mike was recently asked by SIM Leadership to act as liaison between SIM, itSMF and vertical industry Groups.  Mike was also asked to join John Zachman, and other industry thought leaders in SIM Enterprise Architecture Work Group to bring together the Zachman II Framework, TOGAF, ITIL v3, other IT process disciplines and framework work streams.
 
Mike was a founding member of HP’s SOA/Web Services core team the ZLE (now NeoView) Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing core team.  He was responsible for WW BI, SOA, ETL, EAI, and ODBC middleware partner business development, recruitment, and contracting and product management.
    
Mike has been certified ITIL v3, HP Certified Professional, Microsoft MCSE, Compaq Master ASE, IBM Professional Systems Engineer, Advanced Management certification from American Management Association, Network General Corp. Sniffer Protocol Analyst, and PMG NetAnlyst.
 
Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with emphasis in Computer Science from California State University at San Jose with additional graduate studies at University of Grenoble, France, and U.C. Sacramento.
 
Mike’s hobbies are Mountain Biking, long-range offshore and fly fishing.

 
Lori Martin – Treasurer
IT Director, Enterprise Applications Systems Business Processes & Analysis - Brocade

Lori Martin is a senior information technology professional.  Her 20+ years of experience span across all areas of IT, including enterprise business applications (ERP, CRM, SCM, PDM / PLM), systems and network infrastructure and operations, IT governance, and staff development.  With a talent and passion for applying technology to provide real business value, she specializes in Enterprise Applications and Business Processes.  She has spearheaded several successful global enterprise application deployments.

In her current role with Brocade, Lori is responsible for partnering with senior business leadership to insure alignment between IT and business strategy and objectives and to recommend and deliver effective use of information technology to business processes.  Prior to joining Brocade, Lori served as IT Director of Applications at Openwave Systems, where she was responsible for all aspects of the company’s global enterprise application strategy, development, delivery, support, and operations.  She has also held senior IT leadership positions at Zhone Technologies, Network Equipment Technologies, and Verilink.

Lori received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.  She also completed the Information Technology Leadership Program at the Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business.


Lori Kershner-Wine – Secretary

Lori is a business and technology leader with over 15 years experience in multiple industries. Her career history includes a successful track record of high-level strategy and vision planning, change leadership and process engineering in a broad range of companies, projects and business situations. Throughout her career she has consistently delivered strong technology, business and interpersonal advantages critical to long-term growth, profitability and competitive performance.

Her favorite role, to date, was as Senior Director, Information Technology for Chiron Corporation (now Novartis), a pharmaceutical biotech leader with revenues in excess of $1.5 billion. In this role, Lori managed a global staff of 150 employees and contractors that supported 4,500 employees in 6 countries. She was recognized for turning Chiron’s application development and support group into a high-performance, world-class unit.

Lori is experienced in strategy & planning, governance, M&A activities, regulatory and industry compliance, process design & re-engineering, budgeting/P&L control and enterprise systems development, deployment and support.   She is currently working with a public sector client to develop and implement IT Governance.

 
John Freshwaters – Past President & Board Advisor
Executive Director Application Services – Stanford University

John Freshwaters is responsible for directing Shared Application Systems, Infrastructure & Services supporting Stanford University and organizations across campus. Prior to Stanford, John was Vice President of IT for Fisher Development Inc, an international retail general contractor. At Fisher, John was responsible for the management and stewardship of Fisher Development's global information technology systems and infrastructure. He provides strategies and leadership toward the alignment and deployment of new technology solutions throughout the company. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Freshwaters has served in several senior IT leadership positions with a Professional Services firm and national Environmental Engineering company. Mr. Freshwaters received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Speech Communication from Iowa State University. He actively participates in IT leadership programs, and is a graduate of the Society for Information Management's Regional IT Leadership Forum

 
Dean Lane – Board Advisor
Chief Executive Officer – VariTools

Dean Lane has in-depth background and experience in managing the improvement of IT and Company Operations. Mr. Lane currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of VariTRAK and founder of the Office of the CIO.  He also served as the Chief Operating Officer for the Systems Consulting Consortium and as a Chief Information Officer four times.

Mr. Lane has also served as the Senior Director of IT for Symantec Corporation, EVP and CIO for Masters Institute of Technology, as CIO for Plantronics, as CIO and strategy planner for the Thiokol Corporation, and as Allied Signal’s Corporate Production Control Manager and CIO.

Additionally, Mr. Lane has been a consultant for Ernst & Young, AT&T, and the Gartner Group.  He serves on the advisory boards of Search CIO, Cranium Systems, HBS Consulting, and San Francisco State University’s Center for Electronic Business.  He is a member of the Project Management Institute, Secretary for the CIO Scholarship Foundation, APICS, the CIO Collective, co-founder of the Consortium of Information Systems Executives, and was president of SIM’s Silicon Valley Chapter from 2005 to 2006.  

His first book, published by Prentice-Hall was CIO Wisdom and his second book, CIO Perspectives was published by Kendall-Hunt earlier this year.  Mr. Lane speaks internationally, delivering keynote addresses to the Adam Smith Society, the Russian IT Summit in Moscow and a CIO Conference of 200 CIOs from all over Russia.  Mr. Lane speaks locally at the SIM Regional Leadership Forum, and Berkeley’s HAAS School of Management Seminarium CIO Program.  As a representative on the Hi-Tech Economic Mission to Israel, Mr. Lane consulted with the former Prime Minister, Ehud Barach  and frequently travels to India for clients.  He is a contributing editor to CIO Insight magazine and is a highly decorated U.S. Navy officer.

Mr. Lane obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of California (UCLA) and his MBA from National University.

 

Bill Landry – Board Advisor
Principal, Life Sciences Practice – Capgemini


With a career focus on the biotechnology industry, Bill currently serves as a Principal in the life science practice of Capgemini, a global leader in consulting, technology, outsourcing, and local professional services. Prior to joining Capgemini, Bill headed IT at Exelixis as that fast growing biotech moved from a pioneering research organization through the creation and execution of major drug development programs. With responsibility for all IT functions, including IT Operations, Applications and Customer Service, Bill guided his IT team in quickly building a scalable IT infrastructure while developing a broad based service portfolio to enable rapid growth. Prior to joining Exelixis, Bill was responsible for the global IT function of Novartis’ US based biotechnology companies SyStemix, in Palo Alto, and Genetic Therapy in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Daniel Maco – Board Advisor
COO and General Manager – MCC:O2

Daniel Maco is COO and General Manager of Ventures for MCC:O2, a Venture Capital Accelerator for early stage international software companies. MCC:O2 forms joint ventures with international companies, then runs the U.S. operations for each. In this role, Mr. Maco manages activities related to acquisitions, deal flow, business development and operations. Maco holds a number of executive positions with MCC:O2’s portfolio companies, including:

Co-founder, COO, Cytak Inc (www.cytak.com);
Co-founder, COO, DigitalML USA, Inc (www.ignitexml.com); and
VP of Corporate Development for Nexiasoft Inc. (www.nexiasoft.com).

Previous to joining DigitalML, Mr. Maco was Director of Consulting Services for the Strategic Information Group (www.strategic.com), an ERP Software sales group focusing on manufacturing companies in the biotechnology and high technology sectors. Prior to the Strategic Information Group, Mr. Maco was Vice President, Strategic Development for X2 Technologies, a boutique IT consulting services group in San Francisco. Prior to X2 technologies, Mr. Maco was CIO for the international semiconductor group, SAES Getters SpA, based in Milan, Italy and was responsible for IT operations throughout the US, Asia and Europe. In the 13 years with SAES, Mr. Maco served in roles ranging from Mechanical Design Engineer, US Director of IT to Corporate CIO.

Mr. Maco is serving on the board of numerous non profit groups, including the Business Association Italy America (BAIA) and the Society of Information Management (SIM). He speaks English and Italian. Mr. Maco holds two Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. Mr. Maco is also the published co-author of the book: CIO Wisdom (Prentice Hall).

 
Michael Piacente – Board Advisor

Michael is the Managing Partner for CVPartner’s IT Division. He brings over twelve years of experience in IT service, infrastructure and operations. Prior to joining CVPartners, Michael was co-founder and Vice President for OpSource, a leading managed IT outsourcing provider enabling software companies to deliver high quality 'Software as a Service' Solutions. Prior to co-founding OpSource, Michael was Vice President of Western Region for Metromedia Fiber (MFN, now AboveNet) responsible for many of the company's largest IT services engagements. Prior to MFN, Michael was an early member and served as Vice President for SiteSmith - acquired by MFN in 2000. Michael started his technical career in the storage technology area working for MTI Technology, an early pioneer of high-end enterprise storage systems.
