Central Florida SIM Chapter

Welcome to the Central Florida Chapter of the Society for Information Management (SIM). Our membership includes senior IT Executives in the greater Orlando area.

SIM International is an international organization for top information executives. It helps IS leaders to develop their management techniques for the strategic use of information and computing technology. SIM has over 30 local chapters, and 2,500 members from more than 500 major organizations.

HISTORY:

In 1997 several leading CIOs in the Central Florida area were trying to establish a non-competitive environment for CIOs where they could share in knowledge and work experiences. The founding fathers were Andy Wing, Rick Sickles and Ron Maciejewski (Orlando Utilities Commission). Andy Wing was the group’s President and began the recruitment process, encouraging Hugh Moore of Siemens, Jim Dekle from ABC Fine Wines and Spirits and Garrett Grainger from Dixon Ticonderoga Company to join and become founding members and leaders of the new group called the Central Florida CIO Council. Years later, another member of the Council, Dave Razmussen, challenged the group to convert to an affiliate chapter of the Society for Information Management (SIM).  This was a watershed decision in our growth. We officially became SIM chapter in 2001.
