Facilitated Roundtable Abstract:
At this time of year we are inundated with forecasts about the 2008 trends in Strategy, Management, Security/Risk or Technology. We see these at SIMposium, in webinars, trade magazines and in the many marketing promotions which land in our inboxes.
This roundtable probed our collective wisdom and tested your view of the top issues by:
- Noting some typical key trends suggested for 2008
- Exploring one of these in detail: Mobility
- What trends really matter to you and Why?
Facilitator: Ray Gilbert is a member of our Chapter Executive and a participant in other societies (IEEE, ACM etc). He's involved in teaching initiatives at the Rotman School and conference advisory groups at UCLA's Engineering and Business Schools. He will kick-off and facilitate our roundtable by sharing the observations he's gained while delivering seminars on telecom trends (especially mobility) to thousands of CIO-IT leaders and hundreds of our SIM peers across North America.
Over the last 25 years, Ray has held a number of senior management positions with Nortel, Alcatel and Lucent Technologies. His specific attention has been on the business impacts, plus technical successes of enterprises that have been deploying or exploring new broadband cellular data options like EVDO, HSDPA and FMC (Fixed-Mobile Convergence). Ray resides in Toronto and has a BASc, MASc and MBA.
