In 2006, the Philadelphia Area Chapter of the Society for Information Management (SIM) launched the SIM Leadership Award, the first award specifically designed to consider and recognize ClOs for the initiatives and accomplishments of their enterprises. We expect an enthusiastic response from the Philadelphia business community and considerable attention within the IT world locally and nationally as this award becomes established as a standard for excellence in our field. Take this chance to nominate yourself or a colleague for the SIM Leadership Award at http://www.cioleadershipawards.com/nomination.htm. The award is specifically designed to recognize the achievements of our region's IT leaders in three categories:
- Business Innovation: To what extent has your organization used IT in a new way or enabled new ways of doing business, whether internally or externally? What impact has this project or initiative had on the organization, both in the short and long-term? How has this project or initiative improved processes internally or among your organization's partners and/or customers?
- Leadership: How have you raised the bar in leadership excellence? Have you or your department demonstrated technical leadership (in the use of IT), management leadership (in the execution of your project or initiative) or market leadership (in its impact on your organization's position within its industry)?
- Value: What are the specific measurable results attributed to this initiative or project? How will these results affect your organization today and in the future?
Evaluation and selection will be done by a peer panel of ClOs in our region following the close of entries on September 30. The panel includes: · Ken Canham, Principle, CIOExperience.com, · John Carrow, CIO and VP of IT, Unisys, · Dan Falkenstein, VP of IT & Operations, Affiliated Distributors · William H. Morgan, Executive VP and CIO, Philadelphia Stock Exchange · Peter Whatnell, CIO, Sunoco
The SIM Leadership Award will be presented at SIM's annual gala dinner on December 5 before an audience of peers and technology leaders in the tri-state area. Get a head start on the competition by nominating yourself or an outstanding colleague for this inaugural award.
