The Central Connecticut chapter of the Society for Information Management (SIM), is one of many local chapters of a prestigious international professional association of executives, academics, and consultants in the information management field. Our Chapter is organized as a not-for-profit corporation to:
- Provide leadership in the use of Information Technology;
- Enhance public understanding of Information Technology;
- Promote economic and technological growth within the area;
- Advance the quality of the practice of Information Technology
for members and community, as consistent with the purpose of SIM as a whole. The activities of the Chapter strive to strengthen professional communications among management personnel responsible for directing the use of Information Technology in both private and public organizations. These activities include:
- Providing a forum for those concerned with all aspects of Information Management.
- Providing an opportunity to hear presentations by leading Information Management Professionals and Executives who are the beneficiaries of the product of Management Information Systems.
- Providing a means for critical examination of the problems and opportunities involved in the development of Information Systems for the improvement of enterprise performance.
- Providing an opportunity for the exchange of ideas concerning Information Management with member counterparts, primarily within the geographical area.
- Conducting programs for the education of IS Executives, aimed at developing an understanding of information technology potentials and management considerations of the emerging technologies.
Additional activities as approved by the Chapter Executive Committee.

The Society for Information Management, known as SIM, is the premier information management association in the world; membership is limited to the top information executives in leading business or public sector firms and key academic contributors to the field.
