Minnesota Chapter

Membership Requirements

To qualify for membership in SIM, you must belong to one of these four leadership categories:

  • Professional: A senior-level IT professional in either a public or private sector organization who meets the following criteria:
    • Corporate/divisional head of a corporate or divisional IT organization
    • Senior member of an IT management staff supporting corporate/divisional IT heads with key management roles, as certified by the head of the organization
  • Academic: A full-time university or college faculty member making a significant contribution to the IT field
  • Consultant: A leading expert from a consulting firm who influences the direction of their own company or the direction of their clients' companies. 
  • Other leader: A non-IT executive or leader from another profession who plays a major role in matters which impact the strategic direction of information technology

Membership Categories

To meet the needs of our diverse membership, SIM has four membership categories:

  • Individual
  • Academic
  • Corporate (Enterprise)

Individual and Academic
For consideration as an Individual or Academic member please fill out a MN SIM application which is available via the link at the bottom of this page.

Corporate (Enterprise) and SIM Partner
SIM's Corporate Membership offers employers an opportunity to extend the benefits of SIM membership throughout their company, offering increased networking, education and idea exchange opportunities. Organizations with three or more qualified professionals may want to consider Enterprise Membership.

Membership Application Process:

  • All interested applicants will be asked to fill out an application form
  • Upon receipt, applicants are reviewed by the Membership VP of the SIM Minnesota Chapter to assure qualifications are met
  • The Chapter Board makes the final decision on a candidate's qualification for membership
  • Candidates are notified of the Board's decision
