Educational Initiatives & Academic Alliances

 DFW SIM Chapter Education Initiative Program (Click here)

 These program seek to entice, excite, educate and enlight (4E's) students towards information technology-related fields of student and careers.  Current initiatives target students in the 6th grade through seniors in college.  We have formed a strategic alliance with Denton Independent School District (DISD), Mansfield Indepedent School District (MISD), and Lewisville ISD (LISD) Heritage Elementary School.

DFW SIM IT Education Committee Update

The DFW SIM Chapter IT Education Committee released a video (August, 2009), which discussed what IT/IS was all about and Why you should consider a career in IT/IS.  Production assistance:  Enoch Timothy, CEO, Paladin Consulting, Inc.

DFW Chapter University Alliances

The SIM DFW Area Chapter values its relationships with local universities and information systems research centers. 15% of our chapter's membership is targeted for university professors.

Area professors serve on the SIM Board of Directors and facilitate CIO roundtable discussions during January and August each year. Members also participate in academic research initiatives.

Scholarships totalling $8,000 were provided to information systems majors at the University of North Texas, Baylor University, Southern Methodist University and Texas Christian University.
