Membership Guidelines & Individual Application Form

The Arizona Chapter membership is designed to attract senior Information Technology (IT) executives from as broad a spectrum of industries, academia, and consulting as possible. It is believed that members can achieve the greatest benefit from SIM membership if the programs and interaction are focused on diverse senior IT executives.

These guidelines are not intended to be rigid rules to be applied mechanically in all cases. Membership applications will be reviewed and approved by the SIM Arizona Board of Directors to insure that emphasis on senior IT executives is preserved.

To qualify for SIM membership, individuals must fall into one of the Individual or Group Membership Categories as described below.

1. Senior Information Managers
Senior information managers currently or previously employed in a major organizations in both the public and private sectors:

A. Corporate/Division Head: Corporate and divisional heads of organizations responsible for information technology and systems

B. Management Staff: Their staff with key management roles as certified by the head of the organization

2. Academic
Full-time university or college faculty members making a significant contribution to the field of information technology.

3. Consultant
Leading consultants and other experts serving information managers. (The individuals are typically presidents, partners, or other senior executives from consulting firms and other service/vendor organizations directly contributing to the IT profession. The Society adheres to a strict policy against any marketing or commercial activities, therefore Sales and Marketing representatives are not eligible for membership.)

4. Non-IT Executive
Senior executives in major private and public organizations whose primary responsibility is not information technology, but who foster a key role for the use of information technology in their own organizations.

5. Other Leaders
Leaders in shaping and influencing law and government policy in areas of professional concern to information managers.

6. Retirees
Previous members in good standing or who fell into one of the previous categories in their active years.
